    Toner supply adjustment ricoh mpc6003

    Hello Everyone,

I have a customer that complains that his machine mpc6003 consumes toner. So, is there any System SP adjustment that can be done??? Thanks all.

PSG states 15K prints for black cartridge and 9.5K for colors, all at a measly 5% coverage ratio which is not much at all.

He said it doesn't print up 9.5k black, that his 2003 doesn't consume much toner like the 6003 when even printing solid backgrounds.

It's a common issue on these devices. It could be the development unit.
You usually find the waste toner is one particular colour, the one that's causing the problem.

I remembered a customer who had same issues on 4503 there was an SP adjustment of which I did, the toner consumption/supply was reduced. I can't really remember

If I remember correctly, 5% on 8.5 X 11 is 12 point text, double spaced with 1 inch margins on all 4 edges. The common business letter. Coverage counters can be found start at SP 8601.

Is Toner End Detection SP 3100 disabled? If it is, the machine will run Pro Con (Process Control) every time the machine is turned on or comes out of energy saving. Pro Con does use toner to determine the quality of printing.

Mika, those are the yields for the C2003/2503 models. The C5503/ 6003 are 33,000 and 22,500 respectively.
So having said that, and all things being equal, I can't see any way that the user would actually be replacing toner more frequently on this machine than his C2003 - even if it was eating some of it, without there being some obvious indicators inside the machine

That was why the stopped using 6003 for now.

Thanks, hope this works. But am quite sure there's an SP settings to be of which can't remember. I'll check my personal brochure.

usually that series manifests that problem, when the pcdu have far exceeded their useful life, it happened to me with the 2003, on the yellow, you drank the cartridges as if it were beer .. LOL

i understand what everyone says about adjusting the toner usage. but have you actually looked at the counts. maybe look today and again a week later. don't always rely on the customer. as we all know older copiers work differently from newer ones. i would look at the counts and verify. and ask what size paper is being copied/ printed to as well. are they now using 11x17 when they didn't before? and such things as that.

I think the ricoh yield prediction is pretty OK (except for some A4 color MFPs).

I'd also start and pull the logging data lists, it will include informations about the coverage, toner replace count and even detailed informations for the last used toner bottles. Sop yeah, look at the counts...
