In either case, does the user have Modify permissions if you navigate to the share from a Windows machine and look at the Properties?

This sounds like more of an UnRAID issue than and MFP issue. The NAS is the more likely target for where the issue lies. Samba can be incredibly easy to configure, or an absolute nightmare.
    Damn, that got by me.

    In post #15 he indicated

    msh> smb
    Workgroup Name : LAN
but farther down in the same post
    msh> dhcp
    DHCP Configuration:
    Ethernet(ether):
    DHCP: On
    inet 10.2.0.53 netmask 255.255.255.0 broadcast 10.2.0.255
    WINS
primary server 0.0.0.0 secondary server 0.0.0.0
    hostname printer01 ScopeID

    DNS Domain
    Selection : DHCP
    Domain Name : lan
So it could be a domain and he needs to specify lan as the domain name in the C306 network settings.

Thanks for commenting, Workgroup. Manually tried to copy files to/from the NAS using the copier user/password without issues.

That "domain name" stance is for DNS client configuration, for when a short name (non FQDN) is used, the client library should append that domain to the short host. Either way, I setup the SMB client to use a FQDN (printer01.lan)

I take this to mean you copied them from a PC to the NAS.

Have you gone into the administrative setting on the NAS and checked whether SAMBA is enabled? If it is not, scan to SMB will not work regardless of the version of SMB supported by the C306. SMB is Microsoft's implementation of SAMBA. Linux and Unix based systems need SAMBA enabled in order for a MFP to scan to them.

Correct, tested with Windows & Linux clients. Sure I did, otherwise the PCs can't access the share, it's the same protocol. There's not a "PC one" and a "MFP one".

You are half correct, there is not a PC one.

Also why does the documentation for the NAS have specific instructions for enabling SAMBA? Why did some versions of OS X have Apples version of SAMBAS removed and yet were still able to share folders/files with other computers? Now go to the NAS support website, download the documentation and read it. Or you can read it online like I did.

I have disabled "NetBIOS over TCP/IPv4" in "Security --> Network Security", and I still see a Netbios exchange on the wire (query + response) :/

Afterwards, no other communication attempt is made.
