My mistake for using the translator. In Spanish it has no gender.

Before loading package that includes the smart panel firmware, change the panel start up from quick to normal, or unplug the machine then press the power switch to drain completely. Then it is safe to update with the package.

              Re: locked out mpc5504 ex

I'm reviving this old thread mainly to send a special thanks to Debs1964 (whom I miss seeing around here on a regular basis).
This info is Golden, and saved my butt after I was just trying to help out a colleague who had placed an MP C3004 and I experienced the EXACT same issue as Vintage Tech during F/W update, and feared that I may have bricked their machine.

It froze on the same screen as he described, and after I waited for nearly 30 minutes, hoping it would continue, I knew it wasn't going any further. I shut down the machine and it rebooted with an E32.

I searched and found this thread, and the follow-ups indicating it had worked, and I felt a lot better.
The most incredible piece of this info is the waiting 5 minutes with the update card installed and then running the reset code and rebooting. I tried doing it without that step and it failed again.

It's info like this that this Site is all about, and I'm so thankful for the insight - particularly Debs1964, but also to Vintage tech for closing it out with his experience.
While all of the Icons returned immediately for me, it's excellent info in case they hadn't!
              Rep points to you both!!

I miss being on here, but I got so fed up with the nastiness from certain members that I decided to step away for the most part

                  Hi Debs,
Over a very long time in this industry ( toooooo long really!!) If I had taken notice of every stupid remark or criticism I would have given up the will to live.

Ignore them all, TBH I would have been stuck had you not posted the solution to the lock out - who would have known that - in fact if you look back up the post you have given a few of us a real gem of info.

                  So welcome back

                  Regards

                  Steve

Thanks, I have been in this industry for 38 years.

I don't think anyone on here has criticised me, but it's the general 'I'm better than you' mentality of some members, and constantly making nasty comments to others, usually because they have differing political views. Some of those comments have got very personal. When I first joined this site it was a really friendly place to be, and I spent hours reading and posting, but I don't find it that friendly anymore.

Maybe I will pop back in more often, because most people are friendly and helpful, it's just a few (who usually post the most) that cause the nasty atmosphere.

Debs don't let a grumpy old man like me cause you not to share your abundance of knowledge with those that are in need of it.

You've got to be kidding me.
30 years experience according to your profile. (??)
I'm going to be as polite as possible to respect Debs...but seriously, did you simply read the initial post and then jump right to the finish line, and miss all of the amazing meat and potatoes of excellent service tips, to a successful conclusion - NONE OF WHICH involved replacing a single component!
In the future, you might consider actually reading a thread before posting. You may learn something (as many of us did), and save yourself a few controller boards along the way!!
                          Wow!
