Ricoh SR3210 Finisher jamming on exit - paper hitting piece of mylar on left plastic

Hello, sometimes the pages exit out but most of the time they get jammed up right at the exit area. I can pull them out but they are fairly folded up into each other.

I see where the paper coming out on the left side is hitting a piece of mylar sticking up that is glued / attached to the left black plastic "guide" The right guide has the same piece of mylar sticking up but the paper is not hitting it.

It could be that the paper is getting slightly skewed to the left coming out and that is why it is hitting the mylar strip.

Every blue moon the paper comes out all the way but the stapler does not staple it or it will staple one page but not the other.

    Has anyone seen this before?
Also, is there any scheduled maintenance that is required on these? Not sure if the rollers could even be replaced, they are way in there.

If the jams occur entering the finisher check the metal input guide is not bent this was common on newly installed devices.

as I understand your problem, it could be the jogger roller that no longer works well ...
you can use my modification: mount the rubber of an AF03-2094 or similar, keeping the original plastic core, increase the internal thickness with tape or insulating tape (photo A) , it works with all finishers with that system. .. works well for a long time....
there is also the "off-road" version (photo B) but its experimental ... LOL

p.s.to remove the rubber, without breaking it, use a small screwdriver, open a gap between rubber and plastic, and put some liquid hand soap, then turn the screwdriver around, and the rubber will come out easily

That sounds like a good tip - I usually break every third rubber tyre (the new style ones) when I'm experimenting/messing around like this. Always fun to tell my Konica guy I fixed something with a ricoh roller (or vice versa).

ciao, yes, it's very simple, unless the rubber is 20 years old, it's really hard to break it, the trick, is to use a fine screwdriver, and put the soap in well, and turn the screwdriver with circular movement, the rubber will come out with the maximum ease, if you want you can also reinsert it

Following up, did some research and the main roller is called a "Gathering Roller". It is a semi-soft foam of some sort. The new one is firmer than the one that was on there and I am hoping that is the problem.

But now I have another problem. When replacing the Gathering Roller - the C-CLip will not fit onto the shaft. It is as though the shaft is suddenly shorter. Damnest thing. I have it fitted properly. It is not easy getting in there, I know, but there should not be this issue! The Roller is the exact same width, and the gear and belt are on there. The roller's side fits into the gear properly. Has anyone had the enjoyment of this crazy problem?

Yes... it's bullshit, there's the trick.

                1) put a well-threaded sheet of paper under the pick up, so that it does not fall inside clip, gear or anything else

                2) you put on a fine screwdriver, as you pull out the pin, this will help you pull it all out
without separate the assy belt, gear and pin

                3) with a minimum of manual skill you do the reverse process.
you have to strain upwards a few millimeters all the metal assembly with one hand, to easily insert the roller into the seat (the pin ends with the half-moon shape, for that you do not come out everything, you have to center it)

I takes me 60 seconds to change it. the old one is mushy, that's the problem, that's why I make the "tuning"

I do not "photographically" present the mechanics, (now I am at home), but (if there is) be careful not to break that kind of white plastic bar that goes up and down, on the sides it is very delicate...and if break can make a same problem of the roller

Thank you, I will try this. Not exactly sure what you are saying but I can figure it out I think.

The c-clip sits INSIDE of the metal frame on the shaft, not on the outside.

Thank you SO MUCH for this! I guess when we removed it we did not notice this. Will report back once I have tried it. Much appreciated!
