We found that the problem was solved when the developer unit changed the magnet, we had the same problem before.

If you are using the genuine toner,you may not need to change the bushings or anything else.
However, if you use Compatible toner you may need to replace the developer agitator bushing every 200k-400k cycle and the worst case scenario can have a spillover effect on the paper registration and feeding unit down below.
So, be careful with the compatible toner!

Maybe that is why I never had to replace bushings or anything else even though I had machines go over 5M before being traded in. And continue to work at another placement. Always used Genuine Ricoh and always did PMs within 5 % over recommended. Now the conductive bearing in the drum shaft holder were another thing. Replaced a couple of holders until some one posted the part number for the bearing here on CTN.

I use genuine toner/developer, I am just anxious because good luck finding a used good developing unit to replace it if it ever fails!

I tried in the past as a test, to put very hard grease, inside the new bush before mounting it, to trap the developer.

Yes, anxiety levels are high with a non forgiving customer!
We all go through it once in while,
You could also try to replace the existing set of developer agitator bushing with this one with the seal and of course have provisioning for covering
of registration/feed unit with seals as suggested in this thread.

Hi guys, we have a lot of Ricoh MP5500/6001/7000/7500 series.


Sometimes they have this problem:
The amount of developer inside the development unit decreases and it's attracted to the drum.
A large quantity of developer also accumulates under the cleaning blade, causing damage to the drum.


Has this happened to any of you? How can it be fixed?

Try replacing the LED array that sits on top of drum unit.
Do not use the used one, use new.
