Mp 6001 can not prints pdf files

Hello Everyone,

we have Ricoh mp 6001 machine, sometimes it can't print out pdf and powerpoint files (word-excel prints normanly). At such times, the data light is still blink to receiving the print job; but it does not print... then the data light is on again and there is no error display. on the computer, prints job finish with out error.

Anyone can help me?

Check for driver and port settings. Nowadays you'll see generic/class drivers + WSD port very often wich can cause all sorts of issues. Try and get the latest PCL6 driver from ricoh support website and install it with TCP/IP port connection.

Been a while since I worked on Ricoh kit but don't they have a 'pdf' element to the firmware? The old 'package' type updates were a pain because they didn't have all the elements. Might be worth updating all the firmware parts?

Also, I have come across problems printing from web based pdf viewers like chrome viewer.
Set the default viewer to Acobat reader NOT a Chrome viewer or Edge viewer to print pdf files

PDF Direct is a subset of PostScript. With it you can send a valid PDF file directly to the 6001 without using a driver. However if the pdf file contains corrupt data it still might not print.

in addition to the sound advice given above (specifically windows driver & WSD port) in the adobe print dialogue box, under 'advanced' i think, is a selection called "print as image" - selecting this can solve several problems

Yes, using embedded PDF readers via browser is also a bad decision for printing^^ Same goes for the preview application in MacOS,

Do you have the PS3 kit on MP6001?
I have seen these issues relative to PDF reader upgrade too. Since, pdf downgrade could be difficult, it is better to install a PS3 kit on the device.

in addition to the one already suggested by the others, try to check in the user and printer tools menu, [delete jobs with error]> off, or [store jobs with error] it could be that the machine does not print (for example) if the document does not match to the size of the trays, etc.

PowerPoint files, and by association, PDF files that were created from PowerPoint files, frequently tend to have gradient fills for background.

These backgrounds can be very memory intensive, and frequently problematic. Even though the file size is normally modest, the resulting print files can be enormous.

If that is the case, try reseating the memory on the main controller.

I realize we are discussing a B&W printer, but the same rules still apply, only to a lesser degree.

Again, still no response from the OP. Some additional info would be quite helpful.

I've also seen issues with PowerPoint presentations with full size images just scaled down by dragging the edges instead of re-sizing them and re-saving as a smaller image. When trying to print, the full image and its data need to be read.

PDF's can also become bloated depending on how they are made. With a full PDF editor they can also be shrunk in size, which can often make a considerable difference in terms of size.
