[Dead] Ricoh Aficio 4502 Error SC-549 & Not Fusing on edges. After Fix film assy replace

This machine was a huge time toilet today... lol. I replaced the fix film assy (torn Film) and am getting SC 549. I took it apart and checked everything several times. I am assuming the pressure release gear for the pressure roller has something to do with it... It doesn't fuse on the edges sometimes and sometimes it prints fine Anyone know where I am messing this up. I have done this repair at least 20 times. Never with this result.... Thanks for any help !!!

Sounds like you either have a bad fusing lamp, lower thermostat, front thermistor or you left a lamp lead disconnected. Recheck your work, by the book.

Possibly a trapped thermistor cable between the covers?. It is also easy to bend the pressure roller thermistor back so its not in contact.

        • Code: 549
        • Description:Causes:Remedy:1. Check the cable connection. 2. Replace the heater cables.

          correct part nr?

It's also possible that the new assy is internally damaged, there are some heat-reflecting shutters inside as moving parts, perhaps they got stuck due to rough handling/shipping.

could be a dirty / faulty thermisor, has it been a long time since you rebuilt it?
the temp sensor (AW100146) may also have problems.
try increasing the thickness of the paper, to see what happens ... what kind of prints are they? documents or photos, if they are photos try to set, from "speed" to "quality" from the printer driver.
