Mpc3003 "strange spare part pcu" (?) opc drum complimentary?

    Ciao everybody
we recently purchased from one of our trusted suppliers, 2 pcu compatible for mpc3003 to keep in spare parts warehouse, the strange thing, and that, once I opened a box, I found inside, 1 pcu, 1 rear cover .... it's an "additional" opc drum cylinder (?)
our supplier does not know technically why, do you have any idea why there is an extra drum cylinder box?

p.s. the writing with a marker, I did it, it did not arrive like this

That is odd. As the drum may not be of OEM quality it may just be a spare in case it doesn't last as long as the blades, lube bar and charger.
It's 106 miles to Chicago. We've got a full tank of gas, half a pack of cigarettes, it's dark and we're wearing sunglasses.

    Hit it.

I also thought this strange hypothesis, but at this point I would have preferred an additional charging unit rather than the drum

The manufacturer trusts little in the opc drum. The back cover did have a modification and it comes with the development units.

My guess is that there has been an improvement in the drum itself. The warehouse personnel aren't trained to install the newer drum into the PCU so just include in the box so the installing tech can change it. There is possibly is bulletin on it but IMHO a copy should have been included in the box. Note the double layer of SEAL tape on the top of the boxes.

LOL that's funny indeed - actually we made some bas experience with some of the refurb kits, they caused an excessive wear of the drum surface. Another spare drum might have improved the overall yield (for the costs of another service visit).

Or it's some sort of ultra-rare collectors edition, unfortunately you opended the box....

Perhaps the one who packed the box also had too many glasses double scotch^^

never happened, I believe more in an error in the packaging or they added an extra drum for anomalies found in those installed and not to waste time disassembling ... compatible ... ;-)

the polystyrene packaging is specially shaped to contain the additional drum, it has not been inserted into the box in a causal manner

It takes far less time changing the polystyrene end pieces of the packaging than disassembling the PCU in order to replace the drum.

The box & packaging look like genuine Ricoh?

Maybe they have started including a spare OPC to justify the high purchase price!

no, it is not original, we knew it, I think we paid 120-130 euros per unit, even the box, and the label is an imitation rioch, but without too many pretensions

That's a fair price - kind of the money I have to pay for a refurb kit. What's your impression of these "bootleg" drum units? Guess there's not a lot of field experience regarding reliability...

Bah?...I must specify that, given the astronomical prices of the originals, we buy compatible pcu, only for this series.
our supplier often changes manufacturer, so they are never the same.
but I must say, that apart from the first ones, a few years ago, the most recent ones are pretty good, I haven't had any problems yet, these in particular, however, I haven't tried them yet, they came as a spare
