[Misc] Ricoh MPC3503 copy/scan from glass problem

Hi guys, I'm having this problem on a RICOH MPC3503 when we do copy or scan using glass, it will have greenish background at the side of paper (for color copy/scan, grey color if b&w copy/scan). No problem when using ADF to copy/scan.

I have done cleaning optics at scanner area but problem still persist. Any ideas?

I still say it's the optics.
I posted a similar problem a couple of months ago about a smaller machine

May I ask why you wouldn't just scan a sample that you didn't have to edit out your personal info - like a windows test page or almost anything else? and ALSO.....why you wouldn't upload the scanned image, rather than taking a photo and uploading that.
    WOW!

Because the machine is at client side and I did not manage to take a photo during my service time. Those are client's photo so I need to protect their privacy

My problem seems a little bit different with the one you posted. But I will still try your solution.

Looks to me like you have a lot of toner hazing inside the C3503 and Cyan and Yellow toner are get blown by the optic cooling fan onto the bottom of the platen glass. The wider area of green is most likely nearest to the fan. It can be a thin enough coating that your eyes may not see it but the scanner will. Cleaning the under side of the platen glass may help briefly but to completely eliminate the problem you will have to identify the source of the toner, correct it and vacuum all the spewed toner.

Try lifting up slightly on the front left corner of scanner.

is the glass fitted well? are there all the shims underneath?
anyway, try to check under the two carriages, there are small anti-friction nylon buttons for sliding the carriages, perhaps someone has jumped away, and one of the two carriages works slightly inclined creating shading
p.s. the photos look terrible, and i cant see the problem, I'm going to nose

Indeed the front left corner of the scanner has been slanted down slightly. Lift it back up and problem solved! Thank you very much.

Thanks all for the inputs as well.

Usually the result of some lazy ass user leaning on the front of the machine while making copies and/or scans.

Sometimes it's best to remove the covers and loosen the screws holding the scanner, lift and retighten.
