Other thing to mention that if I hold the home button for a while a message is shown telling me that there is no recent app!
do you think that the problem might be a hard drive failure or a damaged motherboard issue?

I'm in a rural place and there is no tech near here! qualified techs are about 300 kms from here!

I have driven 300 kms to do a service call on many occasions, that's pretty much a normal thing to do.

I would update the smart panel OS, and reload all of the apps.

Can you see if it communicates with the pc? If so, try updating the firmware with the tool
