I doubt it will work, but at a minimum it'll be difficult to secure.
But my question is why would you even want to bother?
Used HDD's are a dime a dozen (so to speak).Comment

The question usually asked is can I swap the HDD with an SSD.

I think it's about time for Ricoh to start equipping all new machines with SSD's, and come out with a part number of an acceptable SSD retrofit drive for existing machines.Comment

Re: change to 3.5" hdd ricoh
The main reason they likely haven't is the fact that write intensive SSD's are still fairly expensive as its generally a server SSD feature. With MFP's writing and deleting data frequently, the drives would degrade much faster than spinning rust, especially with consumer level drives.Comment

Re: change to 3.5" hdd ricoh
I don't think Ricoh will oficially offer this because in this case the data overwrite feature won't do it's job anymore properly since the wear levelling tech inside the SSD doesn't let you adress specific memory cells for overwriting. Instead - if enabled - this feature triggers a lot of random writes reducing the lifespan of the SSD.Comment

Re: change to 3.5" hdd ricoh
Thanks for pointing it it out,
To be very honest i was in restricted area and tried that as an only available option that time and thing is working without a glitch also have SLNX installed on that device, didn't notice and compare if that has an impact on boot time and print spooling.
But i will surely note the details upon next visit.
