    Savin 2522 Error SC546

My Savin 2522 gave me an error code yesterday of SC541 after re-setting it is now giving me SC546. I can't find SC546 in my manual any idea what I'm supposed to be looking to fix?

    Fuser Codes SC-541, SC-546

SC-546 is "Warm-up" error, suggests that the fuser is NOT reaching 160' within standard warmup time. Hangs, and does NOT go to ready state.

    1. Remove fuser cover, remove carbon buildup from thermistor.
    2. Replace Thermostats P/N B027-4095 2ea.

**Recommend you replace thermistors P/N AW10-0053 as well.**

That should get you back in business.

    Hope that helps!

      Did help but...

Thanks that did clear up the SC-546 error code but now the bleeding thing is alternating between SC-541 and saying there is paper jam. To quote Office Space "Why does it say Paper Jam when there is no Paper Jam!"
I'm starting to suspect something is interferring with the copier's internal communications causing false signals. Seen that happen with this model?

ok, SAFE to assume, that you replaced both Thermistors AND Thermostats??

        Let's analyze power now...

These 22/27's can exhibit numerous SC's and false jam issues, if:

        A. They are plugged into MULTIPLE devices on the same 110v line
(ie: Surge protectors, with a fax and other devices plugged in)
        B. Running on "Generated" current or "Fluctuating" current.
MAKE CERTAIN no other devices are plugged in**dedicated line.

Also, have seen where the fuser receptacle on the back side is not
mating properly when seated, and secured in the machine. Check for
        those symptoms first.

Time to break out your meter, and start monitoring line voltages.

Rarely, but by no means never, have I seen the power supply bd. go bad.

        I recall at least one.

I'd check all the aforementioned things first. Inspect the lamp connections
and that receptacle, run continuity checks-on the terminals.

I don't understand how a thermostat would cause a heating code, unless it's bad. To my thinking they are either good or blown. I have a 3025 that's going into sc546 intermittently and having quite a time figuring out why. Would sure like to fix it! I've replaced thermistors and changed the heat roller. Any help greatly appreciated!

You also have to make sure that 1 or both of the upper roller bearing holders have not broken.

I've seen the bearing holders broken and one was broken on this unit. I came up with a good fix without replacing the housing. Use a bearing with a groove and ring on one side only. Situate the ring against and on the outside of the metal piece (side plate, part #24 I think). Even with a broken holder, the heat roller will not drift because it can't! You may have to cut part of the ring off, and put the space it leaves at the press roller bearing so the bearing doesn't contact the ring.

Use the heat tube bearings for the 2035. I replace all of my 22/27 family machines with these bearings after the first PM. You'll never see an issue with the heat tube drifting again.

Check the screws securing the bias plates(the copper colored ones that connect the thermostats). Some were manufactured with cross-threaded screws that can arc and cause fuser codes.

I've had both thermostat assemblies out and tested. I didn't notice anything wrong with the mounting screws. I'll double check next time (today), as the code's back.

If you have another fuser handy, take it along and install it. Maybe it will isolate fuser vs machine problem.
