We have gotten multiple SC899 code calls today. Anyone else seeing this? Seems like a weird coincidence that Internet Explorer was just DC'd and we get multiple SC899 codes soon after.

Re: Multiple SC899 Codes Today
Personally I like Mozilla Firefox. Prior to it I used Netscape Suite, on whose source code Mozilla Project built their version browser, initially called Phoenix and in 2004 was released as Firefox. Netscape and then Firefox provided tabs in their browser long before Windows added them to EI.Comment

We got some 899's last week and I saw one today. Firmware update fixes it.Comment

Re: Multiple SC899 Codes Today
Yes, customers still use IE. Along with Windows XP, Windows 7, etc. Yes, they need to upgrade. No, We cannot make them.
FW updates have been effective with our recent SC899 calls. 5 total yesterday (which is unusual). Let's see what today brings.Comment

Re: Multiple SC899 Codes Today
Easy fix. Update the firmware then shut down the Ricoh (you don't state which model)
Next delete ALL print jobs in the queues on each PC/server then check all are printing via IP port not WSD.
Finally set all all users default browser to Microsoft Edge.
Power on the 'Ricoh' & try a test print.
Let us eat, drink, and be merry, because tomorrow we may die!

Re: Multiple SC899 Codes Today
Root cause is something in a single print job. That is why I always disconnected the network cable, cycled power on the Ricoh, enter the printer function and bring up the job list before reconnecting the network cable. The offending job will be the first, possibly the only job, to appear on the job list. You now can determine what computer sent it and what it was. More often than not it will be something having to do with fantasy sports, sports betting or playoff brackets.Last edited by slimslob; 02-17-2023, 08:49 PM.Comment

Re: Multiple SC899 Codes Today
Lately it's been caused by new Windows 11 computers being installed with IPP printing. The Ricoh machine are just not ready for the IPP print until they've been updated.Comment

Re: Multiple SC899 Codes Today
The firmware update was published largely to help with WIN11 not completing the transmission, and it is mostly effective.
However, we have a number that would continue to have issues due to their using WSD instead of the actual Ricoh print driver that that specific machine using and actual IP port addressing.
A customer had a new hire + new notebook computer setting up from scratch.
Any machine they directed any job to resulted in the machines coding out.
Delete ALL WSD and install the actual drivers for all of the machines there, and there were no "re-occurrences"
That will also help with affectively transmitting the control codes to have the machine duplex+staple, etcComment

Re: Multiple SC899 Codes Today
Yes, the WSD issue is always a PITA, mostly due to lazy IT who want to do the setups themselves, and then do it half ass with Universal Drivers and WSD ports.Comment

Re: Multiple SC899 Codes Today
Or untrained users who let Windows find and setup new devices which always uses WSD as the port and Windows type drivers like the Ricoh type driver.Comment
