    MPC6004 or MPC5503

    Hello,

I may participate in an auction and I see there are some MPC5503 and MPC6004 units. Anybody with experience can provide feedback on those models?, would it be worth it to buy?

    Regards.

They are valid models and still in play. However, I wouldn't pay more than 900 euros each with a b/w and color counter over 150,000 pages, especially in an auction.

I couldn't find a clear comparison between the two, any recommendation regarding which model to go after?

The C5503 was released in 2013. It was replaced by the C6004 in 2016. They both use the same toner, developer and fusing sleeve. If all things else are similar, price meter counts, etc, then I would go with the newer model. One thing though, if the meters are really close, either the C5503 was over utilized or the C6004 was under utilized.

The MP C6004 is the newer & faster model of the two. It also has a new style 'smart' operation panel.

If the 04 is the ex model it will also have postscript emulation.

The only downfall of these machines is the high cost of consumable parts. Look up the price of drums, developers, fuser, ITB.
