Then try to open the drum unit and developer and inspect them if you think they are blocked ... So print grainy? Error codes? I had encountered a similar noise and had solved with the firmware update which corrected the phase of the fuser.

I'm going to run up all the drums and transfer belt tomorrow. I don't know why it would be the firmware after all this time. Idk
Color only or does it do it on B&W as well?
Have you tried running output checks just to run a specific motor at a time to see if you can isolate what might be making the noise to a specific section of the machine?

Everything is possible. There was a bulletin put out having to do with a chattering noise from the fusing unit. rfg056159.pdf
Could also be the pressure roller gear. rfg055949.pdf
I have also had problems with the rear sintered bushing for the exit roller in the paper exit section have the heat form the fusing unit boil the oil out of it and cause a lacquer build up on the shaft making it hard to turn. Eventually it will bind causing a jam and stripping out the drive gear for the section.
try with sp 804 (output check) at various speed, to test various mechanism, to identify the source noise, if you want test the fuser cinematic rotation, remember to put out the waste toner bottle, for not burn the fuser sleeve!
