MP 7502 Freezes in "Copying" or "Scanning"

Hello Guys
I'm going mad with an MP 7502, hope you can help.

The machine randomly freezes in "copying" , if the customer does a copy job, or "Scanning" if he tries to scan. This happens ONLY during scanning or copying, and completely random. Sometimes he works for a day or two without any problems, sometimes the problem appears every hour. In printing mode the machine works without any problem.

i've already swapped from a working machine:

Exposure Lamp
Lamp Stabilizer
CCD Unit
SCU Board
Scanner Motor
IPU Board
HDD Unit (tried 4 different HDD's and 1 SSD)

The machine is Up to date with the latest firmware.

I see no mention of this, have you printed and reviewed the SMC report? Have you monitored your AC from the wall?
You have worked very hard on this, yet you might not have tried the easier things first.

Have you checked the SCs in the registry? Are additional SD card/features like Java installed? Have you tried without the HD? Copying and scanning without or with the ARDF?

try to reset copy application with SP 5-801-006....and if possible wash well the controller with alcool and paint brush, and check the various ribbon cable, can could be mesh

Yes of course...tried a different wall outlet, in the same place there is also a MP6001. No "strange" SC codes. i asked the customer to wait during the error if a SC COde pops up, but after two hours of "copying...." nothing, no sc code

The controller is my next option...at the moment the machine is in test, after i cleaned well the OP panel and reset the USB connection from the panel to the IPU.

Fortunately we have a working machine to swap parts.

Already checked SC codes, there are only one Post Script SD card, but already tried without PS3 Card. The problem occurs with ADF and also from Exposure Glass.

There may only be 1 SD card, but Java may still be installed if I'm not mistaken?
Is anything listed in Extended features that you can uninstall?

Have you monitored the voltage at the wall, while the machine is running?

I know you mentioned that an MP 6001 has no problems, but not all models are created equal. There are differences between their power supplies.

I had a very similar issue a few years ago where the 01 machines were happy, but the MP 6002s we put in were not. They generated frequent SC230 codes.

There was a factory across the street that played tricks with the line voltage.(It was in a rural area with very poor regulation.)

Ok so in addition to what the other engineers have suggested

Try changing the :
Controller
BICU
DBR board

Also check your developer unit and transfer belt unit and drum unit. Clean and service these well. I've found that if they are not fully serviced and cleaned they can arc and cause issues. Take a blower and blower your transfer belt unit out.

Also check your electrical distribution box in the building. There's a possibility that the breakers might be too low for the electrical consumption at times (when the client is running the machine and other equipment) . Which could lead to your problem. Ive had this in the past.

An AVR would be great to try on the machine. Might stabilise the power fluctuation. 1 for that machine is about $200

along with testing the power. what else is running on that breaker? i had a customer having copy issues. and the copier was plugged into the same outlet as the AC window unit. no bueno!!! but yours might have something similar, just the other device is plugged in perhaps in the next room over, or whatever. like everyone suggests i would look into that power issue a bit more.

clean up RAM and SD care pins with alcohol and start up the Machine without HDD

You know the one thing that I don't see on your list above of parts you have swapped is the Contact Image Sensor for single pass ADF function. It does connect to both the main ADF board and the IPU on the main frame. ANy glitch in it could cause a problem.

excellent observation, you gave me the idea regarding the possible replacement of the mc-rdf wiring, it could (by dint of flexing) have pinched some wires, and could male strange effects, the replacement is relatively simple and fast.
