    Ricoh mp6002 melting cleaning web

    Hello to everyone,

I have a problem with a mp6002.The hot roller is melting the cleaning web when the machine isn't copying. When the copier is printing there is no problem because the cleaning web is turning correctly.
I have already change from another copier the web unit and the fuser unit and nothing changed.I have checked the values for fuser and web units from service manual and are correct. If anyone have any suggestion i would be thankful.

    Thank you,

The client use only compatible parts for all his copiers(3 mp6001 and 2 mp6002). The other fuser unit that I tried had original parts.
After 15 - 20 minutes in ready mode without printing web is starting to have a hole on the surface that contact with the hot roller.

Remove the front cover on the fuser unit and then I would jeppo (make the front door switches) the front door open and then start the machine up. As it goes through the start up cycle focus on the fuser unit. Pay attention to the lamps and if they are coming on and going off.

If they are not then it could be a fault with your power supply board or BICU board. But before you change those I would recommend doing a firmware upgrade and checking the fusing temperatures on the unit. Also try maybe turning on fuser idling

Fit a genuine Ricoh web. If fuser unit will not be overheating as it would blow the thermo switch & cut the power.

I had some cases where the hot roller and the pressure roller are melting together, thats because the thermistors got dirty from the toner and the machine recognizes a lower temperature.... Remember that the Mp6001 and Mp6002 have different cleaning webs 6001 is white... 6002 is brown with more silicon oil in it.

Ilia, Gia Sou file. I don't understand 'melted' , cleaning webs don't melt, even compatible ones. Can you take a photo ? I suspect the web isn't going round and staying stationary and so being damaged by the rotating hot roller. That is a common fault.

How so ? It is the service company that is responsible for parts not the client

I have seen that happen. The toner builds up on the cleaning web during a copy or print run. A short time after the run is over the hot roller has cooled down enough for the toner build up to harden and fuse itself to the roller.

check the state of the carbon brush which is used to discharge the electrostatic charge from the hot roller (front bearing) it must be clean and in good condition and touch the roller well to allow it to discharge and prevent the toner from tending to remain attached, making everything excessively dirty, I noticed that it is a often neglected part
