    MP5500 - sc 555 -521-522 fuser overheat

    Hello

I have a MP5500 coming up with different overheat errors. Lucky for me I have the same machine next to it. Changed over the fuser units to see if fault carries accross. No errors have occurred. Replaced the PSU and cleaned out all the blocks and connectors. Done the firmware. Now stuck as to what to do next apart from convert it in to a toaster !!! Any ideas would be welcomed.... Thank you

It needs a new set of thermostats. AW11 0064 x 2 and AW11 0066 x 1. Won't hurt to put a new set of thermistors in it too - AW10 0108 and 0109. There is an RTB on this somewhere.
It's 106 miles to Chicago. We've got a full tank of gas, half a pack of cigarettes, it's dark and we're wearing sunglasses.

    Hit it.

There has to be a broken or trapped wire somewhere then, maybe a busted lamp? What a mental fault, all the ones I've seen that have done this have been sorted by the thermostats.

Could be a voltage regulation issue on the line of the machine you are having problem. Check temperature on both machines. Maybe one giving problem could be set a little lower. I understand a lot of these codes occur primarily when machine is powering up in morning. Some techs turn the AOF off. FRank/ActionPhotocopy

As a last resort turn AOF " off ". it won't code anymore.

                overheat

Many thanks to you all, It has been resolved by replcing the brackets on the thermistors. Also placing the machine direct to mains , not on a extension lead as it was.

                again thank you

                regards

                  Just an afterthought.

You must ALWAYS be careful not to bend the thermistor when inserting the bracket into the aperture above the hot roller. I always move the cables near the thermistor to avoid forcing it past as I have attended several calls when the previous engineer has bent a new thermistor causing it to fail.
