Ricoh Aficio 2228c, Megenta Out Of Sync

    Hi folks

i wonder if any1 has an idea with colour sync issues on a Ricoh Aficio 2228c copier

the megenta is not quite in line with the other colours, the machine wont allow me to run auto colour registration.

must admit the machine wasn't asking for a megenta toner but it is now & i know when the machine is asking for toner it wont let u do a colour registration anyway.

whats the best way of going about solving this issue

    cheers

    Hi John,

clean the ID Sensors (3 in near Fuser Unit), clean transfer belt/replace it. It have to be clean and clear so the ID sensors can "look thru it"

    cheers, Timo

Why do they call it common sense?

If it were common, wouldn't everyone have it?

If the PCU and Dv unit are over their life, replace them, I had 3245c can not do auto color calibration and color were shifted out of lines. I replaced all 4 pcu and dv units, and the auto color calibration worked again .It is costly, but that is only solution in my case. ( of course you must make sure all other suggestions done before you start replacing these things ).

I found this on Ricoh tier 2 site and this seems to point to your problem re: magenta out of sync
                [Symptom]
Magenta is offset in the sample print and automatic MUSIC correction did not fix the problem. Test pattern print result: 070707.
                [Cause]
The SP code settings for Magenta are incorrect.

Reset the following SP codes to their factory default settings: SP2909 001, 002, 003 (Y,M,C) for fine adjustment of Main Scan SP2916 008, 009, 010 Sub Scan (Y,M,C) SP2103 056, 057, 058 (Y,M,C) 64.3 MHz. Automatic MUSIC adjustment should correct the color offset.
The drive motor feedback control of the drive motor does not respond to switching on and off.
Networking skills are advantageous but use of a 3m vacuum cleaner is essential

If it's lived this long, its probably just dirty - in addition to the sensors, belt, and process components, also make sure the rollers are clean - remember, the belt is clear so the ID sensors see through it to the roller. If its dirty its just as if the belt was bad

I.t belt unit stripped & cleaned (even rollers) & greased, I.t cleaning blade replaced & vacuumed, megenta drum unit switched, adjustments in sc mode made to megenta registration, main registration adjusted due to lead edge issues.
                      IT belt sensors cleaned,

the megenta registration is moving on its own, it can be out by 1mm then it can be out by 50mm.

i'm wondering weather its a lazy megenta dev drive clutch. as the 1st print is further out than the others

                      any1 got any suggestions lol

                      Many thanks
