Savin 4022 light / half tone copy coming from the scanner

OK so I have a customer with 2 Savin 4022's. One of them makes a light copy which looks similar to an undertoned condition. The print process is fine as a PC printout or say the meter count sheet printed from internal memory prints out fine and looks great other than the fact that it is due for a PCU but the customer does not want to spend the bucks. Anyway, the light copy is only an issue when making copies or scanning. Does not matter if you are scanning from the glass or the ADF. I have checked all the relevent scan settings i the service mode. It is not set to photo mode or anything like that. In fact I have compared the SMC reports of the 2 4022's and there are no settings between the 2 that are different. All the mirrors are clean. I have checked everything I can think of. Hope someone else has seen this problem before.
    Thanks!

As I said in my post above the "printer" side works perfectly. If you print out the meter count page for example the prints are perfect. The only time you get a lighter copy is when you run copies from the glass or adf. It is a scanner issue not a print engine issue.

Make sure the scanner is level, pull up on the left front corner when scanning and see if that makes a difference.
