    Pro1356 with GBC Streampunch

Guys, I've got one of these that jams when doing duplex but only if there is alot of toner coverage (examples are photos or skyshots). It works 100% when only normal text style coverage...

To elaborate more, it only jams when the high coverage is on the second side of the sheet.. so a duplex copy with black on side 1 and text on side 2 will work fine, but if the black is on side 2 bzzzzztttttt

I have swapped some sensors over/around and upgraded the chip to R15 to no avail...

For some reason it also does 2 rotations of the punch motor instead of 1 when this duplex job is run, which in turn causes 2 sets of holes, one in the right spot, the second halfway down the page approx..

As I said, normal coverage it works fine, (gotta be a sensor but????)

    Any suggestions welcome.

Nah, I'd just think the Streampunch can't handle full coverage properly, the feed rollers might be skidding on the high coverage paper. Try giving them a clean off with proper rubber cleaner and the sensors a blast off with compressed air.
It's 106 miles to Chicago. We've got a full tank of gas, half a pack of cigarettes, it's dark and we're wearing sunglasses.

    Hit it.

      Hi
You have solenoid in duplex unit. Open a top (metal) cover and clean the solenoid. This solenoid open a platen gate . I have this problem sometimes .

Agree with TonerMunkeh on this one.
You did not mention what happens when you have second side fully covered with toner but you don't use the GBC...but I'm supposing that everything is fine...so the problem must be with the GBC transport rollers that I think will slip due to the high density on the second side. Try to clean the with "blanket wash" and maybe use a fine paper sand to increase the grip a bit.

There was a problem / solution in the ProC900 section which stated that toner on the paper was sticking to the GBC punch pins and increasing the erase margin on heavy solids cured the problem.

            No solution

We had a GBC Streampunch II exchanged at customersite for the same problem. It brought no solution. The sensors in the GBC can't handle solid black pages (or solid black field at a certain position).
No solution or support was given by GBC :-((

The bolded bit is true, I have confirmed this issue on 2 brand new Streampunch pro's. When there is a photo or solid dark image in line with the sensoe S3 the sensors gets confused, (it sees the white edge of the page and promptly punches the sheet as it should, then as the paper is leaving the area the sensor sees the black (image) and then the white trail edge, when it sees the white trail edge is thinks it's the next sheet and punches again, hence why there is 2 sets of holes on the sheet)
problem has been escalated and GBC supplied some different sensors but it is still no good.
