    Aficio 270/ Savin 9927dp

This is getting to be a pretty old machine, but I thought I'd throw this question out there and see if someone could help in the troubleshooting process.

Savin 9927 No Feed from Tray 1
    Tray 2 works great.

Swapped the following components from tray 2 to tray 1 in hopes of repair.
Took tray paper sensor (paper height Sensor?) hangs above tray.
    Feed Clutch.
    Lift Motor.
    Friction pad
    Feed Roller

Even pulled out and inspected tray 1 feed unit. A pain in the ass cause of that rear busing I might add.
The Only thing I could think of is maybe one of those sensors in the back are bad. But the motor lifts to the correct location. I see the clutch attempt to feed but it fails.

    Any suggestions??

What happens if you swap tray 1 + 2 around?

Cannot use tray two in the the tray one spot on this model. Most of the 22-27 Cpm models are this way.

I think the springs in the back may be slightly weak, just not pulling the tray high enough to feed paper. Swap them and the sensor assembly from tray 2 and see what happens.
It's 106 miles to Chicago. We've got a full tank of gas, half a pack of cigarettes, it's dark and we're wearing sunglasses.

        Hit it.

ok TonerMunkeh that could be a possibility I think. Thanks for suggestion. Never thought of weak springs. Seen plenty of Broken springs before.

Try it, time ago i beefed up a Spring with a strong Rubber Band, i admit, its a "quick and dirty fix" but works until now

Ingenious Fix Herrmann, but rubber bands aren't that common around here. Maybe in the fruit and vegetable isle.

Use your finger to put extra pressure on the tray lift mechanism from the rear of the machine. If it feeds, then you know for sure you don't have enough lift pressure.check the lift coupling for cracks. Reduce lift motor reverse time (SP modes) to increase spring tension.

I have swapped the trays of an AF220 just last week. Maybe our models are different from yours.

Very odd, because most of the Savin 9922/9927 Savin 2522/2527 the Bottom tray will not go all the way into the top tray slot.

I can definitely swap the 2 trays on all my 220's. Maybe a Savin thing?

There are white Plastic Pins at the Backside of the Drawers, remove them, and they will fit in all Trays

if you get lift in the tray and still no feed check to make sure the paper guides in the trays are set correctly I have seen and banged my head and parts against a machine only to find the paper guides were off enough to not allow paper to leave the tray.

Yeah seen that before. If they are off track or something they would cause it.
