    [CQ] MP4000 won't print solids

    Hi Guys!

    Need some advice...

I've got an MP4000 that doesn't want to print solids at all. The copy quality is clean and everything seems to be prefect until you've got a solid on the page. There's just a very light area inside every solid; the edge of the solid is dark but only the inside very very light.
If I print a sky copy the whole page actually comes out grey(with the execption of the +-2cm on the sides on very very dark solids...)

Do you think it might be the laser unit?

    Thanks in advance!

    Chris

I had something very similar after replacing the transfer belt on the side door - i had the 2 wires going into the unit around the wrong way, think they are labelled T and F? But text looked fine, it was only solids and pics that were faint.

How many copies are on this machine? Has the drum and/or dev reached or gone beyond their target life? has this just started happening or has any thing changed, is it copies or prints or both?
Grant me the serenity to accept the things I cannot change.

Thanks for everyone's comments!; the above was actually the answer; I didn't expect that to be the problem but just swopped the wires to check and its working perfectly now...

          Thanks for the help!
