    [Dead] Ricoh SP C232

Hey guys, first time in the Ricoh forums! oh boy

I have a brand new SP C232 right out of the box. Soon as i turned it on it gave a SC500 code. I turned it off and on and did a config page. Page made it about 2 inches out of the fuser and stopped. Fuser motor sounds abnormal. I pulled the fuser out, it turns very easy in my opinion. I pulled the fuser away from the gear and tripped the sensors and door and the fuser motor seemed to run ok. Is it possible I have a weak/failing fuser motor?

I also ran into a SC300 but i had the front door open and tripped the switches. Not sure if the machine had issues since the transfer roller was not in place.

    Any suggestions?

Put it right back in the box and get something Ricoh actually made . But seriously, these things are absolute garbage. Our sales staff were damn near giving these away and when the customer finds out that a new fuser is over $500 for the part alone they generally don't even bother to fix 'em.

Haven't been a printer tech for a long time, but, most ricoh (most printers for that matter) products have an inter-lock switch that shuts the fuser off when you open the door. When this switch starts to fails, you aways will either get door open messages, fuser warm-up errors, power supply error, or a combination of these.

I hope this helps is some way.

      Good Luck

Sounds like we are putting it back in the box. The motor almost sounds like it's surging. When i pulled it out first thing i thought was "peice of junk". Looks like a scary little machine to work on.

        Thanks for the suggestions guys
