Bent scanner frame mebbe? Dirty optics / white reference plate?
It's 106 miles to Chicago. We've got a full tank of gas, half a pack of cigarettes, it's dark and we're wearing sunglasses.

    Hit it.

That's a pretty weird sample. At first I thought it might be dirty optics but the lines look pretty evenly spaced. I would look for a mechanical issue like TonerMunkeh said. Also try copying with different exposure settings and see if that makes a difference.

I had this happen on one of my machines - the SC listed was a 124 or 145 I believe. A power cycle fixed it, and it hasn't been back for a year.

Are you placing the originals with the long edge against the left scale? are you feeding the copy paper long edge or short edge first?

As the paper leaves the machine are the lines in the sub scan or main scan direction?

What happens if you place the original with the long edge against the left scale and auto reduce enlarge onto A3? do the lines rotate 90 degrees? Does the gap between the lines enlarge?

            Try replacing the CCD.

              But first eliminate other faults!

I would be more inclined to look at the scanner motor, as this is only used when the original is on the glass... but it would depend on the answer to my previous reply. (Also. maybe, the SBU?)

looks like digital break up,as the carriages are moving would be inclined to change/check connections on ribbon cable first...cheap to do as well

If it's the scanner moving/ ribbon cable I would expect it to be random, which may point to the motor (Stepper?) and I think copies from the ADF don't use the SBU / SBCU (? Haven't checked the manual, so this may be wrong)

                  Line direction?
