Hi everyone....I have a 1515 that the cust has put about 15,000 copys on the PCU before they complained about gritty copies. I replaced the PCU yesterday and they called back today with the same problem. Its leaving develeper on front and back of the copy. They are using OEM supplies. Could this be a transfer roll problem? Thanks for your help

I did vacuum out the dev residue in the PCU area and it came back, especialy on the ledge above the transfer roll.Comment

I'd agree. Make sure the PCU counter has reset correctly too, it might not have noticed it had a new PCU fitted. It's 106 miles to Chicago. We've got a full tank of gas, half a pack of cigarettes, it's dark and we're wearing sunglasses.
Hit it.Comment

The last time I had seen something like this, the quenching lamps were out. That will cause an excess buildup of charge on the drum surface and start pulling developer.Comment

I have also seen incorrect transfer current or transfer cleaning cause this.Don't take that toner with me!Comment

the transfer is set at the default setting, tried lowering it but no differance. Not sure if PCU counter had reset correctly, I'll check. I never thought about the quenching lamp being a problem...wouldnt a SC come up if it wasent working?Comment

No SC code would be generated since it's not monitored. The output check for the quenching lamp is SP5804-003. If the output check is ok, try to observe them with the front door open, bypass the interlock and power on. I think there is enough gap to observe if they come on during initialization.Comment

Forgot to let you know that it was the quenching lamp, one of the led's broke off somehow so none of the lamps would work. thanks for the helpComment
