I have a few of these recently that have been making intermitant noises from the fuser or exit section. It sounds like a loud vibration but goes away before I can troubleshoot. Any ideas on a fix? Thanks

Take the web unit off and check that there isn't a dirty great patch of baked on toner across the full length of the web across the orange sponge pressure roller. Also check the one-way ratchet gear isn't chewed and the metal arm is still intact (this usually causes the web to be dragged through the fuser, but I have known this to just cause noise before)
Had the web motor crap out a couple of times on these machines where the web doesn't advance so you get a thick buildup of toner. This causes an intermittent vibrating noise from the fuser.
One word of warning, most times I've had this it's been the web motor, on one occasion it turned out to be the BICU as I tried a known good motor and it wouldn't turn in o/p mode (take the front cover off the fuser and either remove the existing web motor from the web unit, or try your replacement, trick the machine's front door and operate the web motor in output mode while you are holding it in your hand, if it turns but touching the coupling slightly stalls it, replace it. If it doesn't turn at all then the BICU might be u/s or you might have a paper scrap in the fuser/exit connector) -

The web motor was the problem with the last machine. I have had several web motors go out and have used the motors out of the charge corona units from 650, 551, 1060 parts machines. I just extend the leads. I have also been using generic webs from Katun and wondering if they have been causing problems?Comment

Is this a rattling noise coming from the exit area? If yes, clean the front and rear bronze bushings (2 pairs) at the decurler little rollers. Also check the white gears AB01-2031 & AB01-9197 for worn teeth.Comment
