someone a clue here, do I need to make a full memory clear here ? It is a MP161SPF

    thanks in advance . .
    I had this problem once.
SD card was inserted in the wrong slot, move it.
If this does not help, Login in as an administrator USER supervisor without PASSWORD,
maybe you have a ban on fully using the ADDRESS BOOK.

Any resolve on this? I'm having the same problem with no scanner section showing up in WIM.
I'd like to use WIM to set the scan to email default to pdf, or is there another way to do that on this machine?
There is no "program" button on the control panel to set the defaults on this machine.

Try uploading NVRAM from machine with fully working scan to folder.
Gears, springs, clutches, sliders, connectors and electronics...who on earth can tell what's wrong with it?

I don't have another machine to work from. I'm going to ver up the Frimware and check to make sure the sd card is in the correct slot, hoping for the best.

I guess I dont know if it has a harddrive.. All I'm trying to do is set the default file type to pdf when scanning.
Scanning is already setup and working, they have to change the file type from tiff to pdf every time they scan.

setting default file type for scanning is done through user tools on this machine.

user tools > scanner features > send settings > file type priority

Im pretty sure you dont get full address book function unless you have a hard drive installed.

Also there are no settings for scanner through the web interface with this controller

No HDD for this box, and yes, all settings can be viewed, and changed via the WIM assuming that it is in proper working order.
HDD is Optional for the MP171 onward, but not required for basic scanning functionality.
But it would be nice to know if George ever found a solution?

From what I remember, the controll board was swapped.
I was quite busy at that time, I did not repaired it myself.
