    Ricoh Aficio Scanning

Hey all. I'm brand new to these forums. I have a question regarding scanning on the Aficio MP7001. I need to scan a bunch of pages to PDF, but the model I have access to, the MP7001, does not have the USB or Media Card Reader, so I can't use a thumb drive or memory card. From what I understand, the only way to scan to PDF is if I set up a network folder on the same network as the copier. The problem is, my company only has the copier set up for certain computers (everyone else prints to a different printer, but one without the Scan feature). Our computers are on a different domain, I suppose. Our network tech isn't in today, and I really need to scan these files so I can send them out tomorrow without spending $0.89 per page at Fedex/Kinkos (yes, that's right, no typo, that's their scanning fee!).

Is there any other way I can scan these documents and grab the PDF file today? I don't think I can hook up the USB in the back of the printer to my computer (I think only USB printing is supported, not USB scanning). Any way I could connect the ethernet cable directly from the copier to my MacBook Pro after everyone is done using it later this afternoon? Any ideas are welcome! Thanks everyone!

If your machine is hooked to your network you should be able to use Scan to Email
Testing 1-2-3, testing, testing. Is this thing on?

Thanks for the reply. I don't know if any emails are even set up to send from on the machine. Apparently nobody uses this feature which I find so useful!?

Scan it to one of the workstations and then copy it to your thumb drive.
Why do they call it common sense?

If it were common, wouldn't everyone have it?

Scan your document using "Store", "store only", go into WIM web interface, document server and your file will be available to download as a PDF. No need to login to the device.

WIM web interface? I tried to send the file as an email, and got a "sender not setup" (or something like that).

No need to use email, if your're in a pinch you can store your file on the hard drive. Open the scanner screen, select store file, store only (you can name and password protect your file if you wish) and scan your document. To retrieve your file browse into the device using the web interface. See attached link.

Downloading Stored Documents with Web Image Monitor

BTW, all email requires a senders name attached, you can set the the machine up to auto specify senders name. You will need to fill in an administrators email address in user tools or from the web interface. Once input go to file transfer, auto specify senders name and turn on.

Hey that's good to know that you scan scan to store and retrieve with WIM.

It might be handy when I need to scan something real quick when there's no scanning set up.

                  Re: Ricoh Aficio Scanning

The "sender not set up ... " indication is a good clue that scan-to-email is not set up, and probably won't be an option in the short term.

If it were me, I'd check the addressbook entries for any scan-to-SMB entries. If I noticed that my good friend Bob was on the list, I'd have Bob scan the documents, then copy them to a USB stick. =^..^=
If you'd like a serious answer to your request:
                  1) demonstrate that you've read the manual
                  2) demonstrate that you made some attempt to fix it.
                  3) if you're going to ask about jams include the jam code.
                  4) if you're going to ask about an error code include the error code.
                  5) You are the person onsite. Only you can make observations.

Do it the old fashioned way. Download the twain driver from Ricoh, if you are connected launch a scan receiving program such as Acrobat and pull the docs to your PC.
