Re: Ricoh MP 2551 SC 553 Error code
I offer up a resonable simple check and I get a half wit trying to be cocky with me. sorry but ive done too many ricoh, canon, kyocera sharp courses to be talked down to by somone who thinks its big and cleaver when he clearly cant tell his arse from his elbow!Comment

Re: Ricoh MP 2551 SC 553 Error code
I use this forum to get "unstuck" I works on all machines and only certified of Canon and Xerox. My brain gets caught up "in the trees" so much I sincerely welcome the input. Someone will say something like check the fuser temp and I go duh... I always have found it amusing that every tech that I have ever met thinks he or she is always smarter than the any other tech around them. Their wisdom is much more intense than anyone. The truth is though, the job we do is 70% customer relations. 30% ability to fix the machines (in my opinion). Their is no reason to make judgement calls on any techs ability or get angry. We really have a tough job and everyone has their own style. Neither good or bad unless we succed on pissing off all of our customers. Then we need to find another line of work....Comment

Re: Ricoh MP 2551 SC 553 Error code
So have you checked the temp then? What was the readings? Have you ran a meter on them? Have you NEVER missed something so simple because you forgot to do the simple things? I have and every engineer I know has! You come on here asking for help , i posted that because a lot of engineers don't do the basic checks and start looking to deep. It had nothing to do with questioning your abilities as an engineer but when you insult me with the way you did,yes I'll get pissed off!Comment

Re: Ricoh MP 2551 SC 553 Error code
No I haven't checked that. I am going to do that first thing when I get back to the customer... I actually feel a little stupid for not thinking of that.... I sure do apologize that my comment sounded like i didn't appreciate your feeback. You are actually saving my ass. See... I first saw the machine with no power... Fixed that problem and am starting to see that problem also existed. One of those type of deals....Comment

Re: Ricoh MP 2551 SC 553 Error code
hey, im not the sub standard engineer who cant figure out or do basic troubleshooting! try reading the manual mr "i know it all but know fook all"
been doing this job for 20 plus years and i know that i start by checking the temp readings easily by sp 1106 before i even take the machine apart.
Good luck with fixing your attitude and the problem machine but your attitude will take more work!Comment

Re: Ricoh MP 2551 SC 553 Error code
sorry, i have also been doing this job for 20 plus years and i find your reply totally disgustingly arrogant. have you never had a brain fart?.... if the thermistors are acting dodgy then what are the readings out of the SP modes going to clarify................... this is where logic comes into play and you don't need to look at an SP mode...................or maybe i am just a lower form of tech than you.
well thanks for your input on this. well if you cant understand that sp1106 gives you a reading of the tempreture at its current state then YES IM A COCKY MUTHER F***ER. ive seen machines at ready stage but checking this sometimes reveals the temp reading droping 10-20 degrees within half a second or it can show 0 degrees - hence giving me an indication that the thermistors may be at fault before i start to swap boards out. If you check sp1106 there are sometimes 3-4 reading like end, middle or press thermistors. So yes it can help. Maybe thats just me being disgustingly arrogant but id rather do a basic check like this.
I recommend you read ALL of the posts before starting to comment and yes you've just made yourself look an idiot by bringing this up when it was done and dusted were we both sorted it out.
again well done on your informative post. Must go I have a life to live and cant be arsed when this as it was sorted out with the OP.Comment

Re: Ricoh MP 2551 SC 553 Error code
I find SP 1106 quite useful. After resetting the fusing code, I will turn the machine on with the door open. Once I am in SP 1106 and monitoring the various temperatures, I close the door. If one reads zero, it usually means a bad thermistor, normal cold reading in my climate is in the mid 20's. If one stay at the same reading in the first 5 seconds, I open the door again. No point in popping another code, especially on the color machines that require replacing a fuse on the fusing unit in order to clear the code.Comment

Oh dear, oh dear, it looks like some people need to sit on the naughty chair for awhile, if you can't play nicely together........
Now to get back to your original problem, are you sure every thing is plugged into the PSU? I would suspect that the triacs are turning the lamps on but there is no feed back to the temp control circuit. At least 50% of IT is a solution looking for a problem.Comment
