    Samsung CLX-6240 Fuser problem

    Hi Guys

I have a clx6240 with +- 1200 copies on the clock. I have replaced two fuser units. The problem is that the fixing film on the one side gets damaged (gloss coating comes off) resulting in toner adhering to this area ond offsetting onto the paper. The firmware is V 1.0.xxxx 40. I have updated to version 48 (latest). The support guys say i must check the PSU for dry joints !!!!!!

    Any input will be apreciated

    Regards

Jeez, i didn't think it was our responsibility (read: techs) to repair bad boards on practically new machines.... Seems kinda harsh! I've had a couple of dud 5935's outta box and we just rma'd them.. no reason why we should have to toil over a brand new machine!! I had one 6240 do that to me and like you we replaced the fuser (under warranty from samsung) and haven't heard from it since (knock on wood).

    Regards!
    A.

It's relatively common on the Samsung tabletop machines to have fusers melt down (yes, this is a minor meltdown.) and the power supply is usually the culprit. But I would order it warranty. =^..^=
If you'd like a serious answer to your request:
      1) demonstrate that you've read the manual
      2) demonstrate that you made some attempt to fix it.
      3) if you're going to ask about jams include the jam code.
      4) if you're going to ask about an error code include the error code.
      5) You are the person onsite. Only you can make observations.

        Hi

I am not a samsung superhero, but my feet are pretty wet. I will order another fuser unit and a power supply.

Will give you update as soon as they arrive

          Hi All

I received the fixing unit on friday. I had a closer look at it and found that there was a colour difference on the fixing belt(different type material). I maid about 1500 copies and all was fine.

My only concern is why did Samsung not bring out a service bulletin regarding this matter. I work for a multibranded company and all the other companies are frequently issueing bulletins of this nature.

          Regards

The dry joints problem is a major problem with HP printers. If you go over to FYOP, they have a fix for it. It involves putting the board in the oven and cooking it to remelt the solder. People claim to have had a lot of success with this method.

I have had several Samsung's with fuser problems over the past couple of years. Most of the time, when I replace the fuser and problem keeps coming back, I have to replace the "SMPS" pwb (Switch Mode Power Supply). On some of the newer models they have incoporated a Fuser Driver Board. (This is what you replace instead of the SMPS if the model has one) On the CLX-6240 I believe it has only the SMPS. Also, on occasion, I have had to replace both the SMPS and the Fuser due to voltage problems ruining the fuser or potentially compromising it. I've attached a Samsung Fuser Troubleshooting PDF for you in case you haven't seen it before. If it were me and for whatever reason I was not able to return machine to manufacturer I would do the following :
              • Ensure firmware is up to date.
              • Replace the Fuser & the SMPS pwb (because you've already tried just the fuser)
              Hope this helps. Good Luck..

Hi guys, I was just wondering where you guys are ordering the parts from? I work for a company that's a Samsung authorized bta distributor. They have good prices for OEM Sharp and Samsung Parts. I don't know if this would be helpful or not... let me know please...
