Sharp SF - 2030 Help! Please!

Does anyone have a copy of the manual for the Sharp sf 2030 that can be sent to me? Or can anyone enlighten me on how to refill the toner? There is toner everywhere and I can't get the cartridge on the door to open to refill the toner. I thought that by sliding the refill container over the door, it would automatically slide open but the only door that slid open is the refill container and toner is everywhere. How do I get the toner container on the machine to open so I can refill it? Please help!!

As this machine is very old and its poinless getting an engineer out - 2 small flat head screwdrivers pushed under the flap should be enough to release the top and you should with some fiddling be able to slide it open. It is fiddly so patience on this. Look at where the lugs on the toner bottle sit and look under the flap and push to the left/right.

And before any one complains i will help people with simple tasks on OLD machines where it is not viable or reputable to charge someone on a machine that is well past its sell by date. I will NOT however help on new equipment where the end user is looking for free work when they should pay for an engineer or have a service contract.

This Service manual can now be purchased for $11.77 and downloaded immediately after payment from The Internet's largest collection of manuals

The service manual has NO information on how to refill the toner cartridge.
the manufacturer does not expect that as a service issue.
The final user has to buy and replace the OEM cartridge, that's all.
Call a service tech, or better yet get another copy machine, in the u.s.a. you can get used ones real cheap.
Remember that it is a very old machine and that this is going to happen to you everytime you ran out of toner.

That may be, but when he fucks it up and gets an error message afterwards, he's going to need the manual to help him fix it.

Toner everywhere - machine still not working

Bangin Bishop - Thanks for the advice/instruction. I loosened the screws (phillips by the way) and got the door to release and slide back however the machine is not happy with the refill. I was able to get 1/2 bottle of toner into the machine - it is full. The machine is still telling me I need more toner and there is still toner splashing everywhere .
Not sure where to go from here, I may have to call for service repair. It just seems like such a simple task - I would hate to pay someone $150-$200 per hour just to refill toner.

imaginGuru - Thanks for advice about the manual - other than the toner issue the machine works pretty good. This machine was bought used for the bargain price of $99 and I've been using it since March. What is real cheap from your perspective - if I spend another $100 - $300 on another machine, I still may not be able to refill the toner...
I'll look up what an OEM cartridge is but I don't see any indication on this machine that the cartridge get's replaced - it looks like it only gets refilled.

If its asking for toner and you have 50-100% full it could now be a problem with a toner sensor or old dev in the toner unit (to get the copy toner has to mix with developer as it acts as a carrier). if the devs gone stale or has just ran its life its gona cost possibly if you can get it $40-50 bucks. simple job to do. If the toner sensor has gone then chances of getting another one is like seing the pope in dirty video - you aint gona find one If you can source a second hand dev box go for that.

Question - did the machine start producing faint copies before asking for toner and did you find any black powder at the rear of the machine i.e. turn the big silver roller and see if any powder comes out of the unit. if the units leaking forget it.

Hi - I don't remember the copies going faint - the machine just asked for more toner. Thanks for all your help - I really appreciate it

simple check to rule out the drive unit for the dev box.

pull out the dev box a bit and wipe your finger on the silver roller (covered in black toner) put the dev box back in, shut the door and turn on. At this point the machine should do a cycle for toner, wait for 10 seconds and open the door and pull the dev box out and check to see if the toner has recovered the silver roller.

The two toner stirring rollers may not be turning. Pull the cover off the DV unit and turn the mag roller, the toner stir gears should rotate. If there is cam out in the gears, they could rotate, but the stirring rollers don't move. That would cause the "add toner" notice.

                        SF-2030

First the toner cartrige or bottle cant be re-filled, its one time use only, once the seal is pulled, thats it, it should be in place before its pulled, and if it does not go into place properly, it is likley the wrong toner cart, at one time the toner for the early AR 5132 would fit the hopper, if thats has happend, it is a mess, it all needs to be cleaned out, DV unit and hopper, and re-filled with fresh DV and toner, I have seen this happen.
The toner hopper door can be jimmyed open with a couple small screwdrivers to check how much is in there, but filling it this way is a mess wating to happen.

                          I've given up!

Hello all - thanks for all of your help and assistance. Unfortunately, I've thrown in the towel. I don't know what a development unit is and I cannot pull anything out on the machine because it's all screwed in and I don't want to screw the machine up any worse than it is now by putting things back incorrectly. There is toner EVERYWHERE and it's impossible to clean it up. I've been cleaning off things in the machine but it doesn't seem like anything is getting cleaned.
If I decide to tackle it again, I will keep all of your words of wisdom close and maybe you'll hear from me again in the future - but for now...I'm done.

Check your toner sensor.....maybe it is busted and need to be replaced.
