    SF 2027 line on copy

I have a Sharp SF 2027. I did a pm about six months ago, replaced drum and developer. The copier has faint grey lines on the copy. I cleaned everything, and adjusted the exposure. The lines seem to go away, more so after running a number of copies. The customer says that the lines are most apparent when he first uses the copier in the day.
Could there be some sort of short causing the grey back ground. There was alot of toner in the lower dv unit, just under the mag roller. I don't think the copier is overtoned. I did order new dv today. I feel like the drum is not holding the charge properly.
Any help will be greatly appreciated.
I know it is an old copier. The machine runs fairly well beside this problem.
    Thanks,

Look at your charge corona and grid. It sounds like the unit is dirty and arcing. Clean the grid with alcohol and restring the corona.

Art, the 2027 uses a sawtooth for the main charge & wires for transfer & separation. I'd clean the main charge & replace the trans/sep wires, although that shouldn't give you lines. It usually gave void lines on the analogs.
      Hope that helps !

tmaged is right on that. Charge sawtooth won't cause lines at the beginning of a copy run, but severe overtoning can. When you have the lower lip of the developing unit filling up with toner you can be sure that it is overtoning.

That new developing unit will not have any developer, so be sure to order some SF-222ND1.
If you'd like a serious answer to your request:
        1) demonstrate that you've read the manual
        2) demonstrate that you made some attempt to fix it.
        3) if you're going to ask about jams include the jam code.
        4) if you're going to ask about an error code include the error code.
        5) You are the person onsite. Only you can make observations.

Gentleman, I may have been wrong about the charge using a wire, I have seen several times where a grid that has toner dust all over it cause arcing, esp when the charge begins. I had a SF 2035 do that at a customers office back in 2001.

That old SF 2027 was a decent machine, but if them supplies were old, had been on a shelf a while, may be the prob, when you run DV cal, T.C 25-2, what were the numbers while it was running, should be at least above 60 or so, old DV will run low on the numbers, making it over tone after a while.
When cleaning the grid, use a water based cleaner first, we use simple green, then achol after to remove any soap residue from the grid, if the saw tooth is pretty new, some foam packing will clean it ok, I use some fine sandpaper, 320 grit wet/dry paper, works great, or the brown scotchbrite pad, paper is easier to clean the sawtooth with though.
One more thing, check the DV drive unit on the back side of the machine, that orange gear gets gummed up, may slow things down just enough, have seen them cause L4 codes also.
