which is best MXM 550 or ARM 550?

we have been refurbing the arm 350/450 and are well pleased with them. Now we need to get faster machines and we were wandering which was better. I have read several post that the fuser in the arm550 was their problem but I see many wholesale machines with several million on them so some one must be able to make them run at a profit. So is the fuser different in the MXM series. I noticed that PR has the new style fuser for the ARM for sale. can you not update the old fuser? Also we have been only buying the arm350N/450N. they come with network. If a machine does not have the "N" after model does it mean you can't network it. I have a wholesaler that has some MXM 550U's that are listing some with network print and some not. any info you could share with me would be appricated
    Thanks

MXM's have a cleaning web in the fuser. They won't fit into an AR-M550 fuser. Both are great machines. The MXM will scan to a folder, where the AR won't. Neither machine has an active USB or parallel port like the 350/450 so you can't stick a print server on it for network printing. You either have to buy an N version or add the compatible print controller kit.
LMK if you have any more questions.
    Hope that helps !

tmaged is exactly right. But for the web, the machines are indistinguishable. The web is a valuable feature in keeping the fuser clean, so I'd have to lean towards the MX-M550N. =^..^=
If you'd like a serious answer to your request:
      1) demonstrate that you've read the manual
      2) demonstrate that you made some attempt to fix it.
      3) if you're going to ask about jams include the jam code.
      4) if you're going to ask about an error code include the error code.
      5) You are the person onsite. Only you can make observations.

        arm fusers

we have just started some too , have learned the hard way that over their life shap made 3 different type of fuser , or you end up with 1 of four different types , the first had minimal cleaning , then they went with a screen and silicone oil roller to clean the lower pressure roler , then they modded in an oil cleaning roller with drive gears on the upper rollers , then the 4 th and final rev was a free rolling oil roller on the upper fuser roller , metal heat sink / cleaning roller on the lower pressure roller , if you are lucky the copiers you get into refurb are the latest , the seem to run the cleanest copies

Operation panel on the MXM is much better than the original Dragon. Very similar to the series 1 MX Color models. Much more user friendly.
USB Firmware updates available on the MXM. Much more tech friendly!
That & the Fuser is about the only differences. All maintenance kits/consumables are the same.
          Its a good machine.

They do roll well, as long as the caster's screws are tight and it's not on thick carpet. It takes some muscle to get it moving, and stopping it.

We have several ARMs out that are in excess of 5 million copies and now that they all have the AR703FU1 fusers there are few problems. The MXMs havent been out long enough to reach any volume yet. They dont have problems either. So either is a good choice.
