Sharp 811 constant jam on machine. Shows red triangle in middle of machine.

I need help with this one. Machine shows constant jam.
In center of machine. The paper service manual shows jam at MS2. It says something about replace incandescent lamp.
Does anybody know what this means?

Those machines used a small incandescent lamp for paper empty detection. If the lamp is burned out it can cause false jams and especially false paper empty message. Good luck finding parts this machine is probably 40 years old. There were a few left in the field when I first started working on Sharps in 1987.

Wow! The SF-811. I remember this machine all to well which shows my age! Doug is right these used a tiny lamp for their paper path sensors. I believe they were very low "AC" voltage. Can't tell you how many I blew out from static while vacumming out machine. Not sure how those lamps, drum, developer, etc lasted this long. Or how you kept this machine going all these years with old toner, etc. As other poster said that part will be near impossible to find. If you are really set on keeping her alive you could remove lamp, confirm voltage in service manual then check online / Digi-Key to see if anything close that could be rigged. Like I mentioned I think lamps were AC voltage which is very odd for a bulb smaller than a pencil eraser.
I checked an old box of Sharp parts I thought was thrown out years ago and had a lot of metal gears, sprokets (yes they were chain driven), etc from that era but not those lamps. Lol I still have a lot of new parts for the SF-7900, 8100, 7370 and even the old SF741. Ouch! Looking at those parts brought back some bad memories. Reminded me what a pain in the ass many of these machines were to service. Not to mention the dirty liquid machines I started on but the early dry toner machines, 2-3 hour PM's, polishing "poison" drums, always cleaning wrap sping clutches, master clamp jam (SF741), shocks failing and top half of machine falling onto your hand, etc. etc......

Thanks for the help. Sorry I wasn't being serious. hopefully you didn't go a long ways out of the way to look up or look for parts. Yes back then job security went a long ways with everything that could go wrong with those fine piece of ***** equipment.

I guess I kind of posted it to remind the newbies of the copiers and how long they've been around.

I'm still lucky to be around this long. I remember getting my tie caught in one of those sprocket chain situations.
