    AR-M450 DV units

Just curious if anyone else goes through these things like water ? Some don't even last a full PM cycle. The mag rollers get dark & start printing background on the pages. We keep sending them back & they keep giving us credit. Thanks for any replies.
    Hope that helps !

    Hi Tony,

No-one here has had any issues with them. Do regular dev change & reset when due. I hope you are resetting the rotation counters as well sim 24-11 at the same time. This usually causes the background problem. I'd be interested to hear any problems you or anyone else has.

Yep we do 24-11 as well as clearing both the toner counters. The only thing I've noticed is the mag roller on the 355/455 is shiny when new & the 350/450 has a dull finish. I figured since we were getting credit for the returned ones, there must be some sort of issue. A friend at another dealer told me about sending them back as we were just pitching them.
      Hope that helps !

We did have that issue some time ago, we were using Katun toner at the time Fortunatly, we only have 3 or so left

There also was some talk about the doctor blade spacing being incorrect from factory, it may be worth investigating.

Oddly, Ricoh are having the exact same problem on the current MP4000 model & the main fix seems to be the toner as well.

        Cheers

we have several of the imagistics 3510/4510's out and developer units are very seldom a problem. they were put out used and some with high counts. we figure if we get 2/3 developer change out of them we can spring for new units. someone posted about installing mag roller bushing but when a new unit is only 75.00 we haven't tried.

            over toned

we always have overtoned 355/455 units here in manitoba canada in winter time. the humidity goes to 5 percent when the heat is on so much and then the copier tones up. Check your humidity sensor output and compare to actual humidity in the location.

Have had 3 or 4 give these problems, but like Stormy said... it was the Katun toner... went back to SharpOEM and scrubbed the mag rollers clean, had no problems.. they last a full service interval.
              regards

I've seen a few build up toner on the mag roller, but only after 1.2M to 1.5M copies, which is enough life for me. For these I scrub them up with roller rejuvenator at the current developer change, then replace the dev unit next PM.

More common is to have the stub end of the mag roller with the gear drive break loose from the cylinder. So the drive stub end turns, but the cylinder doesn't. Again 1.2M copies or more.

I can only think that there is some sort of toner issue going on here, like has been suggested above. You say it's OEM toner, but it doesn't sound like OEM toner. =^..^=
If you'd like a serious answer to your request:
                1) demonstrate that you've read the manual
                2) demonstrate that you made some attempt to fix it.
                3) if you're going to ask about jams include the jam code.
                4) if you're going to ask about an error code include the error code.
                5) You are the person onsite. Only you can make observations.
