I have found that to be pretty normal when making a copy of a copy. I have found this across several different Sharp models.

Sounds like one of your developers took a dump. Did you run 64-4 and set to 3?????

From an online source: "Creating gray using all four colors (CMYK) opens the door to color variation with warm, cool or brownish gray tones. A slight shift on press toward magenta will make a pink-gray, any shift toward cyan will make a blue-gray and too much yellow will make a brown-gray."

I argue then since the gray is purple-ish, that means that Magenta and Cyan is present, but lack of Yellow.

            My advice:
            Check firmware.
Check the LSU window for fogging, inside and out.
            Clean IDS
            Clean Chargers
            Calibrations - 44.2/ 44.6/ 44.27/ 44.26/ 63.13/ 63.11/ 46.74

If problem persists, replace Yellow kit (DV/Charger/ Drum) with OEM parts.
After Sim 25.2, do the calibrations above.

Some other notes, I would check contacts and make sure they are clean. Make sure the LED for the discharge lamp is clean. Confirm toner pipe isn't clogged.

I think that's about it, this is what I do.

            Good luck.

Change the copy exposure settings. The default Auto setting has been known to cause numerous copying issues.
You could also change the copy target like a TV, cool, warm and normal.

Re: Sharp MX2640 copy test sheet with grays coming out with purplish color

JLSam pretty much covered it. But the more important question is, does the customer care? I find I am much more picky about the way the colors print than 90% of my customers. Obviously, if they complained then it needs figured out. Then I would go through the cleaning and setting list above then mess with exposure settings if needed.
                Best rule for troubleshooting.

It looks like you need to run SIM 63-3 with SIT chart (UKOG-0280FCZZ or UKOG-0280FCZ1) to calibrate the CCD. it is ADJ 10-A in the service manual.

It's a pretty well known thing that Sharp MFP's can't copy their own internal prints well. Grays come out purple, density is awful, and there really isn't much you can do with it. Try using another test chart (from a different manufacturer, or a 4k test chart from the interwebs) as your testing media.
