Have a problem we have not come across. cleaned all optics ,white reference plates. and still have a problem when doing multiple scans. scanning multiple originals 3 of 5 may come out half black or complete black or jagged wavy lines with text barely visable. If copying off glass no problem, if you scan each original 1 at a time no problem. Replaced scanner with another one from our office copier and same problem. Any ideas ?....Thanks a bunch.

scanning problem

Found this Bulletin on the canadian sharp net.
This is going on the assumption your getting the E7-11 codes.
I suppose this could make sense having the problem only through the document feeder. When you use the DF your running a CIS, motor and clutches all which get it's power from the MFP and the MFP is directly conected to the mother board. The extra load on the regulator might be making it go funny.

Symptom:
In some cases, E7-11 fault code appears intermittently. Sometimes it is accompanied by black copies produced at random.
Cause:
The two symptoms are related to the DC regulator on the motherboard (MB). When the copier is kept on or running continuously for long periods of time, the regulator overheats and gives fluctuations in the 12V1 line. The risk of getting the symptoms above is mostly related to motherboards produced before or during August 2001. On motherboards produced from September 2001, the 4.1
Ω resistor made of R1&R2 (see diagram below) is increased to 6Ω; this way the resistor will take the extra thermal load and the regulator will never exceed its normal temperature range.
Solution:
To reduce the risk of overheating even more, a new regulator is used since December 2004; the new one has an increased heat-resistance margin. To correct the problem, the motherboard needs to be replaced

scanner error fix
Thanks Lawrence, Went to install a another mfp pcb and when i took thee old one out i took a look at the connector for the scanner harness and found 5 pins with what looked like cold solder joints and after resoldering them, problem was still the same. I figure the damage was more than just that connector and replaced the MFP pcb anyway and the copier is working great. Thanks for the responce.Comment

Did you change the board the scanner plugs into or the board the MFP plugs into which you have to tear the machine apart to get at?
The bulletin posted above is stating a problem with the motherboard which is under the top paper exit tray.

scanner error
Sorry guys for incomplete info. I didnt even realize everything i left out. The errror code was e7-11 and e7-14 What was wierd it never displayed the code on screen but had them stored so when i printed out sim 22-6 data the codes were listed. The connector with bad solder joints is the one built on the mfp board for scanner harness connector. First mfp board i have had to replace. I have had to replace fax and nic cards but never a mfp board. Hope this info is more usefull than my previous postings. Thanks a bunch guys.Comment
