    AR M160 E7 Error

    Hi
My Sharp AR M160 has a problem when you use the scanner blocks is I must turn off and on whenever. I read on display the error E7.

Where can I find firmware update?

What is the E7 sub code?
Why do you think you need a firmware update?

You need to upgrade the MCU Firmware to v3.01.

Then clean all optics/mirrors..... really well.

If you are still getting E7-11 after this, replace the copy lamp assembly or ensure mirror base is parallel with mirror B or adjust CCD height by 1/2 turn maximum and check C/Q. Also check CCD skew.

        wazza,
Doesn't the Pegasus have the same rectangular white mylar on the rear of the slit glass, that the Panther does?

To see the rest of your error code press & hold the start button.

If it's E7-11, and if it occurs only when using the SPF (document feeder), then very likely the white level reference patch has peeled off, has dirt under it, or is just plain missing. Some techs just paint the 20 x 25mm area on the rear underside of the slit glass with white out. Personally I prefer to cut out a little rectangle of white report cover and adhere it around the edges with two sided tape.
If you'd like a serious answer to your request:
        1) demonstrate that you've read the manual
        2) demonstrate that you made some attempt to fix it.
        3) if you're going to ask about jams include the jam code.
        4) if you're going to ask about an error code include the error code.
        5) You are the person onsite. Only you can make observations.

Yes, all Sharps that I can remember at this moment have the white ref under the slit glass. Never seen one peeled off though as yet. Good one!
I got the info supplied from our B/W guys. They seem to think this is the fix.
