    MX-2700 Fuser Issue

Got a MX-2700 UH Roller that gets full of debris. Cleaned it a few months ago and went back to do some other work to see it coated again, not as bad as the first time, but coated just the same.

I thought I saw a Bulletin on this but can't seem to find it. Anyone run into this before?

Generally the UHR doesn't get a dirty coating on it like the LHR, but it is almost always due to either the media the client is using (eg, inkjet labels which the glue seeps out of, or heavy paper used on plain paper setting).

The only bulletin I can remember on the Pastel Fuser units was about the new, larger contact thermistors on the edge of the rollers. This was incorporated to give a more constant fuser temp and/or less H3/H4 errors.

Most of the bulletins on fuser related issues are for the C-Jupiter (MX3500/4500 series), which has had many changes to the rollers, bearing placement & bearing spacers, thermistats & thermistor changes etc etc. Hardly any on the Pastel fuser that I can remember right now.

Make sure the firmware is up-to-date, and maybe increase the fuser temps in sim43 if your client is using a weird paper type. Ensure the client is using correct labels (Laser/Color Laser only - not inkjet compatible or general use labels), and they are using the correct tray settings.

More Info on poor fusing - MX2300/2700 only:

This procedure is done if paper types are within spec, fuser is in excellent condition and the correct tray settings are used, and you still have dirty fuser rollers after a long run.

      - Firmware upgraded to latest
      - Run calibration jig in sim44-13. Ensure value is between 50 & 70.
      - Adjust 44-04, F=128, K=118, L=128
      - Set 43-20, 43-21, 43-22, 43-23 to their defaults
      - Adjust 61-03, set S to 120, T to 20 (copy & print)
      - Run 44-06 and 46-24

If problems still exist, and you know the paper & tray settings are all OK, perform the following as well:

      Adjust 43-01, A=185, B=110, C-165, D=180, E=135, F=185, G=180, H=135, I=185
      Adjust 43-04, A=180, B=105, C=185, E=180, F=105, G=185, I=180

This is ONLY for the Pastel 1 machines (MX2300/2700). The C-Jupiter and other MX series machines are different settings. Dont change these settings unless it is a 2300/2700.
