    Sharp AR-172M- Sharpdesk please help

    Dear All

    I have recently purchased a used Sharp AR-172M Machine

    I was trying to scan-email from the machine panel but always getting a CE-02 or CE-00 errors

    Downloaded the Sharpdesk software from the website but it requires serial number which I dont have

    Kindly advise what to do as I dont have any Manual or CD key with me

    Hi,
    SharpDesk is a non-free software.
    When you purchase an MFC Sharp with the scanner option actived (like your AR-C172), you must check to have the related licence & serial number!
    Otherwise you can go into the web page of your MFC Sharp and insert the correct parameters of GATEWAY, DNS and SMTP.
    Than you can go into the ADDRESS BOOK field and create a new e-mail destination.

      thanks for the reply

      I have already setup Gateway, DNS and SMTP. Still when I scan and sent to email from the machine it gives error CE-02 and sometimes CE-00

        Ok,
        here is a tech bullettin about a similar problem:

        QUERY: CE-02 trouble when performing a Scan to E-Mail even though the IP address of the mail server is correct
        ADVICE: Check the STMP Port setting of the mail server. Port25 is the default STMP Port setting on the MFP however, the mail server maybe using a different port (eg. Yahoo Mail uses SMTP Port 465)

        Try this way.

          Hi there

          Using a local ISP mail server and server settings are same as port 25. Ive checked this in Outlook also

          Still the same

            In the first thread you referenced Sharpdesk. You're not trying to use it correct ? As far as scan to email, it sounds like you know what you're doing. I would try the IP address of the SMTP server instead of relying on DNS to resolve the host name.

                  I have had this problem and had to rename the copiers domain name to match the domain you are emailing from. For some reason it was blocking the email function of the copier. As soon as the domain names matched the problem was solved.
