I am trying to set this copier so that the default exposure setting is text mode so that blacks are black instead of gray. I have gone into key operator settings and set the initial exposure setting to text. I have gone into sim 46-19 and set the AE Mode to 1 which is supposed to help "provide high contrast images" in auto exposure mode. Sim 46-19 Auto fixed is set to off. Text mode 3.0 in sim 46-2 gives me the result that I want while in simulation mode. When I make an actual copy with initial settings, the copies still come out looking like the setting is auto exposure for text/photo mixed which gives a grayed out look to the solid black circles from the test chart. It isn't a toner density problem since manual text 3.0 gives perfect black circles as needed. Toner save mode is off. I must be missing a step somewhere. Any help would be appreciated.

Custom Settings, Key Op Program, 00000, Copy Function Settings, Initial Status Settings, Exposure Mode...
It's in really small type on pg 8-3 of the AR-M350 service manual. There is no mention of it in the 8 pg Key Operator Programs manual. If you'd like a serious answer to your request:
1) demonstrate that you've read the manual
2) demonstrate that you made some attempt to fix it.
3) if you're going to ask about jams include the jam code.
4) if you're going to ask about an error code include the error code.
5) You are the person onsite. Only you can make observations.

Blackcat. I did go into key op initial exposure settings and select text. Even though I select text mode, if I go out and come back to this setting, text is not highlighted. I assumed this was normal since I had seen it on other similar models.
Igi, I don't see a choice of dpi for copying.
I think I need to go back to the machine and look things over again. If anyone has other thoughts on this problem, feel free to join in.Last edited by oldrn; 03-31-2010, 02:12 PM.Comment

There is a trick here that I can't remember exactly how it works. It has something to do with the way that you lock in your choice. I must have tried it a dozen times before I got it to stick. Sorry, I don't remember details. Wazza, help me here. =^..^=If you'd like a serious answer to your request:
