    mxm-450u

    hi all
I have a mxm450u when you do a 2 to 2 copy from adf you get one side ok, but slit glass side has vertical
lines and dirty copy . If you feed single side copies through they come out nice & clean , from glass ok too
it only seems to be 2 to 2 copies when fed through adf . any help welcome

Seems to me the slit glass on the adf lid has to have something on it, that's where the second side it scanned.
I know I should be ashamed of myself. Strangely though, I am not.

Side one is scanned with the slit glass (original face down in doc feeder), second side is scanned with the CIS unit (if I'm not mistaken).

When you test the copy lamp for the 2nd side (CIS unit) do all of the LEDs light up?

I'm not sure I understand, if you are doing single sided and the copy is good (slit glass or platen) then the slit glass side of the 2 sided should be fine also. Do you have any images we can look at? What do the copies look like when you do a 2 sided original to 2 - 1 sided copies (the 4th option in the two-sided menu)?

              Good luck.

There has got to be more to this than meets the eye. Your description of the problem does not match with the fix. According to you, you fixed an optical problem with a print engine solution.

Replacing the drum, developer, and charge unit would affect both sides of all prints equally, not just one side of duplex prints. In other words, the same drum, developer, and charge unit are used to make the image on both sides of the page. Either your problem is not fixed and temporarily went away, or you have described either the problem or solution poorly.

So vespa, what is your theory exactly what fixed the problem? =^..^=
If you'd like a serious answer to your request:
                  1) demonstrate that you've read the manual
                  2) demonstrate that you made some attempt to fix it.
                  3) if you're going to ask about jams include the jam code.
                  4) if you're going to ask about an error code include the error code.
                  5) You are the person onsite. Only you can make observations.
