    Sharp AR-207

    Just replaced the Laser unit: L6-10 code, reassembled and now I have a F5-02 code which refers to a lamp problem ?? the lamp lights and the optics seek home position ... the odd thing is that the scanner goes back and forth rapidly near the scale plate almost like a chatter !!
    Checked the connections to the Lamp and the scanner motor ... including double checking other connections, removing the lamp connector at the main board gives an F5 without the chatter ???
    Any help appreciated ... Thanks, Mike

    PS: checked the white band under the scale plate too, cleaned it ??

      You problem is either one of two things.

      1. An over-current in the inverter pwb (mainly causes the copy lamp to not light up correctly & optics fast movement). There is a known issue on this when the machine is in a high humidity environment, but if there is a fault on the copy lamp inverter pwb, F5-02 will appear.

      2. You have a short circuit on the CCD harness as per attached images.

          Neither of the two images look like the back of that AR-207, but the point is valid ... the smaller 4 wire cable powering the lamp was ... I believe loose because when I made sure it was seated the lamp came back on ( this was one of the other symptoms I had - that went away ) there are a couple of these cables in locations where they could rub or get pinched - including the CCD harness. I'll go back tomorrow and check all of these ... I'll admit, I was abit frazzled when I got done putting it back together ... it's getting warmer here in Nevada USA and I was upstairs sweating, and working on a counter that was too high !! -- Thanks for the help

              Ahhh... your visual skills are excellent Grasshopper! That is indeed some pictures from an AR235/275, ARM236/276 bulletin. I listed those only because I couldnt find pictures on any bulletins on the AR207 (we have the AR206 here in Australia..... same pig though). All info on that code is the same. You get my drift......

              Doesn't matter where you spent your time in Australia, I bet you had a great time! Alot has changed since then though...... You came here 20 years ago..... we got electricity now, and we have cars.... we dont have to ride around on the back of a Roo!

                  More like 24 years ago. Beautiful women, lovely scenery, wallaby's out the kazoo and I learned to play 2-up at the local casino in Perth! Wonderful country, hope to get to return someday!

                      i faced same problem on my AR-F161P(japanese model with fax and printer), f5-02. the ccd harness not connect well and made the ccd pwb gone.

                          I'll check the CCD cable today ... had a bit of tfouble getting it back in because I tried to thread it thru the MCB cage after bolting it to the machine and those flat magnet filter thingeys kept getting in the way !!!

                          as far as the great ol' Auz ... it was 1978 - 1980 ... it has been awhile !! I only got 30 miles or was it Kilometers either side of Sydney -- first area I stayed in was Bondi Beach / Darling point ... funny how the aussie's speak english, but it took a week or so to understand what they were actually saying !!

                          Those who have been there will understand !!

                                  The only time I've seen this code on a Panther it was the MCU. =^..^=
                                  If you'd like a serious answer to your request:
                                  1) demonstrate that you've read the manual
                                  2) demonstrate that you made some attempt to fix it.
                                  3) if you're going to ask about jams include the jam code.
                                  4) if you're going to ask about an error code include the error code.
                                  5) You are the person onsite. Only you can make observations.

                                      It was the CCD cable, where it plugs into the MCB ... the clamp piece must have not been in far enough.
