    AR-337, poor CQ...

    I am not familiar enough with this old beast, but I've been through the machine several times before, fixing different things for the customer. Now, the machine is giving me (almost) solid black streaks on the lead edge, lightening significantly with multiple copies. My first guess, of course, is a Drum, but I wonder if there might be some issues with this model with the discharge lamps or something like that. About 5 months ago, I replaced the Toner Add Roller and put new Developer in it for him. Now, the CQ has gone bad as well, so just wondering if I should be approaching it with everything in the Cleaning Unit as well.

      sounds like a drum blade would do the trick, the sawtooth is also good to change. I get around 150 to 200k out of the drums on this model. I never use aftermarket toner either.

      stop the copy before the fuser unit to eliminate that.

          I'd like to see a sample, but...

          based on what you've said, I think you probably worn out the drum. When these organics wear through the coating (usually along the edge), you'll get drum grounding bars. That's light or dark bars in the crossfeed direction at ~105mm intervals.

          Other possibilities include seizing mag roller bearings (36mm interval), or a flickering Xenon lamp (random intervals).
          To test for the lamp run 50 originals 3 copies each. If it's the lamp, all the copies from the affected original will have exactly the same image fault.

          Post a scan of the image fault. =^..^=
          If you'd like a serious answer to your request:
          1) demonstrate that you've read the manual
          2) demonstrate that you made some attempt to fix it.
          3) if you're going to ask about jams include the jam code.
          4) if you're going to ask about an error code include the error code.
          5) You are the person onsite. Only you can make observations.

              ^^^ yeah seen this alot on these, u get a black blob lookin thing on the lead edge of the first copy, reply the drum and blade and youll be good to go,
