    AR-M257 PPD2_ND Jams

Alrighty guys, I've checked all the bulletins & updated firmware but am still having trouble. I have 11 pages that are duplexed that I'm trying to make copies of. I can run 1 set fine. If I try to run more than one, it runs the first fine, then the first page of the second set stops at the resist roller and I get PPD2_ND. Now, If I try to run them stapled, the machine scans all the pages in first, and the very first page stops at the resist roller. Sometimes it will give me a jam code & somtimes not.
I'm thinking it's a memory issue since all stapled pages go direct to memory & when doing them without staples, the first set is actually copied from the ADF and subsequent pages come out of memory ?
    Hope that helps !

I dont think this is memory related at all.
We have info here on this being a burr on the paper guide (which guides the paper pass the resist roller) and catches the paper on entry to the registration roller from the duplex unit.
Remove the burr or smooth off a paper cut through the plastic.

The reason I say its probably not memory related, is I know the MX's do the same thing when there is a problem, stapled or not stapled.

But I can run 100 pages duplexed fine if it's off the glass, or 1 set through the feeder. It's only multiple sets and always on the 1st page of the 2nd set.
I know it's a copy job, but I almost think I'd get a PPD2_PRI jam, if this machine had it. It's like it just stops, and isn't physically jamming.
      Hope that helps !

if u think it is memory related, u can go into sys settings and change the percentage of memory used for each function,

I've ordered an MCU PWB. I'll let you know how that goes. I don't need to worry about the serial number in regards to the P27 or NSX1 do I ?
            Hope that helps !

I thought about that, but 11 duplexed pages wouldn't max the memory. I know if you do job build it'll run about 120 pages until the memory is full. (I do that to test the ADF when there's problems.) I was thinking more along the lines of bad memory. I'll try the MCU first.
              Hope that helps !

If you swap over any eeproms associated with that board onto the new one before installing it, you'll always be fine. Thats the golden rule. Seen many other techs 'forget' this magical step and stuff the whole thing up.
                Tony, you'll be fine.

The MCU PWB didn't fix it. It ended up being the memory. Swapped it out & it was fine.
                  Hope that helps !

I was thinking you had it, with the memory. Many of the smaller Sharps and Ricohs require additional memory when adding features like duplex, stapling, multiple sets, etc. Think about the Whale AR-C260M that could only do one set through the document feeder due to memory limitations. Sorry for the slow response. Congrats! =^..^=
If you'd like a serious answer to your request:
                    1) demonstrate that you've read the manual
                    2) demonstrate that you made some attempt to fix it.
                    3) if you're going to ask about jams include the jam code.
                    4) if you're going to ask about an error code include the error code.
                    5) You are the person onsite. Only you can make observations.
