    SF2030 power cycling

Customer lost power on this machine and when it came back on the power cycles on and off every second or so. She said that when the power came back that there was a burning smell also. Checked the machine out to see if there was something obvious with the power supply or board but nothing that I could see. When I removed the finisher from the machine it stopped cyclying and showed call for service message, it did not start cyclying again until I set sim 26-1 to the proper configuration (it started cyclying while still in simulation mode). Tried it again by removing the ADF and the same thing happened. Took the power supplies with me to see if we have them in our spares but thinking the cause may be something else? I know this is an old machine but I was hoping someone might remember this happening to them.

Thank you in advance for your time and effort in this matter.

Just an update for anyone that might be interested. Replaced the AC and DC power supplies and the main board. Problem still exists. Next step is to replace the op panel. Will let you know the results.

I've seen the power off/on switch cause that symptom.

Thanks Zootech, we were thinking of taking that as well.

          Me, too. =^..^=
If you'd like a serious answer to your request:
          1) demonstrate that you've read the manual
          2) demonstrate that you made some attempt to fix it.
          3) if you're going to ask about jams include the jam code.
          4) if you're going to ask about an error code include the error code.
          5) You are the person onsite. Only you can make observations.

This can happen due to faliure of the main motor. Therefore disconnect the main motor power connector and switch on the main power.

Good catch Ernest; I vaguely remember that as a fault that was found only after replacing almost all the electronics.

Thanks for all of the great suggestions. I don't think I would of gotten the main motor one. Fortunately my boss persuaded them to upgrade and we are delivering a new machine to them on Fri.

                Have a great day.

By far the best fix on that old machine. Cheers!
