    [CQ] SHARP MXM283

I hope someone other than me has seen this problem, this MXM283 has 72k on it, no problems until now. Customer complained about dark streaks on prints and copies, when I got their the drum was scratched on various areas
near the front picker finger, also the fuser latches were up and both fuser rollers were full of baked on toner and some was falling off and laying near rollers under the drum area. I cleaned up fuser, put latches down, upgraded firmware to current number, installed new drum and corona kit, which had the new style finges. I checked the dv roller for rough edges, was OK. I left the dev. because this is a doctors office, and it looked ok. The machine ran 2 days and scratched my new drum in the same area, this time I changed out
the drum, drum frame, developer unit, new dev. and transfer roller, it's been
4 days and things are ok. Do you think the fuser build up caused this?
Sometimes it don't pay to cut corners on some fixes.

Virtually impossible for fuser roller buildup to damage the drum.
If client left the pressure levers on the fuser up, then of course they will get poor fusing & toner buildup on the rollers. This wouldnt damage the drum though.
Unless the client was being rough in getting jams out of the fuser (and touching/scratching the drum nearby), you'd have to look at the possibility of foreign objects in the dev mix, a problem with the cleaning blade, an incorrectly installed process unit or damaged transfer roller as possible causes of a new drum being damaged quickly.

Dr's offices are just as bad as most schools....... no responsibility, little care.

Have to agree with Wazza here, have been seeing more schools last few weeks, and they dont care, just want to complain that its the machine, well more I dig into problems, more I find they dont know what to do, or how to load a LCT, or even load originals into a Doc Feeder.
Caught one the other day putting originals into a DF with guides wide open, and when I showed her how to do it properly, she said, think thats been my problem all this time.
Had to restrain myself from going "DUHHHH"
Dr's offices I have seen them copy ID and insurance cards with the platten cover up, on old SF-2116 ... yepp...Jam-O-Matic....
Many years ago this was...I hope there is none of them machines still out there.
