    AR-235 simulation

    My Sharp AR-235 is producing an error code, L6-10. From the service manual, it states to run "SIM 61-1"

    Step 1 is below.
    1 Simulation mode selection # → INTERRUPT → C → INTERRUPT

    I press the appropriate buttons, but no response. Any ideas?

      L6-10 is a laser motor failure, if it doesnt reset and come into ready after shutting off and on you need a new laser motor some times you can put a drop of oil on the bearing and make it work. Make sure you press the buttons fast enough or it wont accept it, make sure all the keys are working, try #,* c,*

          Yes, I wasn't pressing the buttons fast enough, I started the SIM and waiting for the results.

              You must be in the "Copy" mode in order to access the simulations.

                  So, what result did you get? (It will need the laser unit regardless.) =^..^=
                  If you'd like a serious answer to your request:
                  1) demonstrate that you've read the manual
                  2) demonstrate that you made some attempt to fix it.
                  3) if you're going to ask about jams include the jam code.
                  4) if you're going to ask about an error code include the error code.
                  5) You are the person onsite. Only you can make observations.

                      hi friend, l6-10 can't solve unless u change the polygon motor or lsu unit.no simulation require,just off & on then can reset it

                          When I left work, it was in simulation mode, no output at that point. My guess is that it is the motor and not the laser itself. I heard the noise it made when it failed, it literally sounded like it was groaning. I actually thought the sound was one of our people making copies, and they saw something wrong, ha.

                          I'm not a copy tech, and none of the manuals (user or service) show where the polygon motor is. One diagram I found showed that it was right below the control panel and/or right above the toner cartridge.

                          Have any of you guys torn one of these apart before?

                          Where's a good source for Sharp parts?

                                  The simulation doesn't produce any output on the display. It does not progress past entering the simulation code. From other threads it looks like the polygon motor is likely to have failed than the laser.
