I would check the fuser pawls and make sure there is not toner build up on entrance guide, pull the fuser and manually try to run paper thru, if it will go thru with pressure released but has problems with pressure on, I would change out the rollers

Likely to be the flat causing the problem though if it jams every copy a tripped thermostat can cause the same thing.

Not certain on the 2700 but with the 3500,3501 and 4500 fusers (different than the 2700/2300)
It is important to do the fuser pressure release if the unit is sitting for awhile. WE had customers not using their copier-one a school, another on long vacation - they didn't head the user manual warning. Both got flat spots from sitting a number of weeks.

However, for both, we ran aging and with a little effort the flat spots worked out.

In both these cases, at first when the copier would go through warm cycling it would sound like a car with a flat tire - bump bump bumpity bump.

Use the MX270HK if you are going to rebuild the fuser. Has everything in it and the new bearings for this unit. Depending on how old the machine is this unit had a few problems with the fuser.

          Good luck.

The heat roller is the one that gets flat spots. Also if you take the fuser apart be careful when you put it back together there is a small metal roller that rides on the press roller that pivots and can get put back in the wrong spot keeping the press roller from turning.

The mx2700 doesn't have the cleaning roller. the mx2600/3100 have this which does get trapped, It's one of those you only

On the 2600/3100 I remove that "cleaning" roller. It does nothing but gunk up and damage the roll it is supposed to clean.

Likewise! throw them in bin. They stopr rotating and damage the roller surface.

Okay, no "cleaning" roller on the 2700. probably flat spot on heat roller.

the 23/2700 gets flats spots on the fuser roller after a while and especially went sitting idle. If the m/c is sitting idle for more than a few days its best to release the pressure off the rollers by pulling up the pressure levers.

Took me a couple of hours to figure that one out. Like you said, once you do, you'll never forget it. Ha!

Really? Was that comment really necessary?
